Who stays, who goes? Your opinions.

As the subject line says, I'm curious to know who you think will migrate to the stars and who will stay on Abode.

Personally, I believe Ember and her tribe will stay. Cutter, Leetah, and the majority of their tribe will stay as well, along with Newstar and Ohler. I think Kimo will want to stay with Shuna, Shukopek, and Shenshen. But Skywise is going. (My theory is he'll Recognize Timmain and they'll have Jink.)

The Sun Folk are definitely set to go. I'm betting some Go-Backs will want to go as well, but I don't know about Venka or Aroree. (But whatever Venka decides, I think Two-Edge will stay with her and keep seeking wholeness of self.) The Wavedancers seem to be growing even more fond of Abode, so they might stay, despite my theory that the Palace could shape another room and take on enough saltwater for them to be comfortable. If that's the case, Sunstream is going to be very conflicted; he loves the Palace, and Savah and Timmain, but he also loves Brill and Korafay.

I also think Moonshade is definitely going to choose the Palace and immortality. She's tired of one extreme, so she went to the next (which is a rant in itself). But I dearly hope Strongbow will surprise us and go with her. If he chooses to keep to the Way, then he'll have the life he wants, but he won't have Moonshade, and they really are two parts to one whole. Even if he stands back and lets her go, then I hope the last panel of that comic is Strongbow packing up and chasing the Palace on wolfback.

Well.... based on that "future" scene ((Pcoquelin posted it somewhere)) with Strongbow and Cutter... if that picture holds any merit, we already know that they go?

If Cutter does go, I'm sure Treestump and Clearbrook would follow... no matter the ages, that's still his little nephew who, in turn, I think Cutter still relies on alot.  I think Redlance and Nightfall are so devoted, they'll go too. They may need trees to where ever they wind up next!

I'm not so sure about the Go Backs tho. They're pretty hard core set in their ways, and can you really imagine them all pent up in a space pod for an ungawdly amount of time without going bats$#t crazy?

And may the High Ones help them all if Trinket wants to go....

But didn't Cutter mention he lost both kin and friends? So who will left to leave Abode.

I hope Moonshade goes. But I am very afraid she won't. After all this teasing in Dreamtime and Final Quest, and the constant "will she or won't she?" every single issue (srsly, that plotline is not moving forward at all) I half expect her to decide "our love is more important" or some such platitude and go right back to the status quo.

I don't see why it's been presented as such a momentuous family-shattering choice. Can't the Palace make annual visits or something? Monthly visits for that matter? It's not like the Palace has a speed limit on it, as far as I've ever seen. Can't the Wolfriders decide to spend a furlough in the Palace (the magic won't presumably affect the wolf-blooded ones as much) with their loved ones then come back to Abode a few years later?

I guess that would depend on their circumstances. If I recall correctly Jinx was born on the palace. So one how did she to get Abode. Two: How long after they left was she born. We do know she was familiar with wolves. I believe it just a wait and see thing.

If Moonshade turns out to be dying of old age- I would be impressed. That would be interesting and unexpected.

Same here, but as Cutter mentioned they all have been touched by the magic of the palace. What that implies I have no clue.

Ooooh, that would be awesome! I mean, not for Moonshade, but for the story sense. What if all that malaise she's been having is like mortal menopause or something... the beginning of the end... because yeah, Dreamtime always did make it seem like one wolf was dying, not just leaving.

If it is like menopause, I wonder if Clearbrook went through something like it too? She is long past her cub-bearing years.

I'd like that too, Kindred, but in the JtSE novel, Clearbrook said she felt a stillness in her body and didn't think she'd be baring any more cubs for the tribe.

This.  So this.  If you're going to pull the "well, you can't expect immortals to actually stay lifemates because people change" crap (which, as I've said elsewhere, changes Leetah's statement in "Kings" from "He was my soul!" to "I wasn't tired of him yet!") why can't you say that an immortal lifemating looks different from what we expect?  They can remain lifemates without being glued to each other's side. When you live forever (or even for a few thousand years), what's a few decades? I'm reminded of the fairies in Pamela Dean's "Tam Lin." "When you live forever, what's a few years earning a bachlor's degree? It's like a weekend at the beach for them." (Quote may not be exact but I'm sure it's close.)

I think the palace can change many things. It's magic is already affecting the Sun Villagers. They are growing taller. Both Leetah and Skywise maintain their height out of love for Cutter. But that doesn't mean Cutter can't gain height, it may be a slower process because of the wolf blood. As for Clearbrook, although she mentioned once she thought she will never have another cub. Her being near the palace and it's influence may as alter reproductive issues in the females as well as Clearbroook.

Which means being able to turn Recognition off, like Leetah and Mender did for Ember and Teir, will be even more important.

Would be rather fun to watch. I can see it now. Clearbrook and Treestump suddenly stop and stare at each. Then the run off for the closet tree for privacy. The announcement comes later, with the tribe snickering because they already figured it out.

Just having fun with conjecture Manga. More akin to what we wish would happen.

I'm a little surprised, considering how many elves we've seen over the years who desperately want children - Brill, Nightfall, Tyleet, Teir , Vurdah - that more elves aren't asking Leetah to try to force Recognition in the Palace like she did before. I'm surprised Strongbow hasn't brought it up as a means of "fighting back" again the human scourge.  

But then, I would have thought if Shenshen wanted to midwife so badly, it would have been much easier to just go live with the Go-Backs... so who can predict elfin logic?

Give the Go-Backs a war every month.... they could over populate the planet in about 10 years
