| Years ago Redhead Ember and me had our personal little challenge and a fun tradition with the grab-bags. Redhead wrote a poem ... and I tried to make a collage to illustrate it - and a background picture for the poem. I've tried to show in the collage / background scene what I've associated with Redhead's often cryptic poems based on EQ art. I was proud of the collages as well as the much simpler background pictures. They had their own little challenges. Background art and poem form a union ... and I can claim neither the picture nor the writing my own. It will not fit in my Elfquest Collages thread. Therefore I got Redhead Ember's permission to show it in a thread of its own. Thank you! The artwork I use for the ornaments is not mine but mostly original EQ art.Elfquest art copyright 2006 Warp Graphics, Inc. | This is so great! You sure made some awesome collages for my cryptic poems. And folks; when we say cryptic we mean cryptic. Sometimes you'd really have to squint to even see any elfquesteyness in them, but of course Embala always could. ___________________________________________________ "When you do what you love best, you shine where you love."Come play the Who Am I game! | |

| Thank you, Redhead! Believe me - it was GREAT fun! I loved to add my point of view to your lyrics ... one way or the other. And as I am EQ adicted it was harder NOT to see an ElfQuest connection ... And I hope to continue this tradition! It was a wonderful gift when you've turned our game upside down and made poems inspired by my Madcoil series: Of course I couldn't resist to add background pictures. Poems by Redhead Ember.Thank you so much for the awesome gifts! ___________________________________________________ Indem du etwas tust, das dir oder jemand anderem gefällt, erschaffst du bereits einen Wert.

| Embala and Redhead Ember, you are a fantastic team! I am amazed by every single poem and illustration and how perfectly verses and pictures are merging here! ___________________________________________________ If you see a Fairy Ring In a field of grass, Very lightly step around, Tip-Toe as you pass, Last night Fairies frolicked there And they're sleeping somewhere near. ~ | |

| Grab-bag elements December 2008
a gift given to show you care singing a pine/evergreen tree winter ("white-cold") discovering something new
Poem by OutlierMoonsongYes, that's an exception from the rule. Redhead wrote a fully fledged story for the December Grab-bag 2008. A poem/song within Outlier's contribution gave me the chance for another background picture this time. The reference was obvious and the illustration not far to seek. ___________________________________________________ Indem du etwas tust, das dir oder jemand anderem gefällt, erschaffst du bereits einen Wert.

| Uhm... why did you change the image for my rather weird Halloween poem? The 2008 December grab bag was the one with Shuna discovering she was pregnant, right? And I think this: - Embala wrote:

Should've said December. BTW, wouldn't so much say it was an exception from the rule as the rule hadn't really been established.___________________________________________________ "When you do what you love best, you shine where you love."Come play the Who Am I game!

| Because rules. ^^ This thread was meant for poems - written by tribe members - and the background pictures I've added. For your Halloween poem I've accidentally posted the fully fledged collage - which belongs in the Elfquest Collages thread. And there it is now. I think the background pic with colored text suits well, too. There are written rules and others grown by accepted custom ... none of them are set in stone. I loved and love your contributions, Redhead, no matter whether they are poems, prose or something in between. btw: Thanks for the heads-up (of course you think right!).

| Thanks, fae, glad you like! Gathering the scattered (and partly lost) poems was the plan ... and to show off the background pictures. ^^ The main work was done by the writers and it doesn't felt approriate to simply mix it in my collages thread. Oowww... I cannot find a background picture for February 2009. Would mean Redhead's poem is lost, too - or ... do you know better, Redhead? Grab-bag elements February 2009

Poem by Redhead Ember - lost ? ... and FOUND!The thread was lost when Tymber left the Scroll ... and I have neither a collage nor a background picture. I vaguely remember that it was about a dying elf, fever, maybe a a pond/bonfire ... Redhead, do you have a copy? Grab-bag elements March 2009

| Afraid not. Back then I just saved each poem as an individual document, and since I don't remember what the poem was called I won't be able to recover it. If I even saved it, and didn't just write it directly into the thread. ___________________________________________________ "When you do what you love best, you shine where you love."Come play the Who Am I game! | |

| Found it!
Before I Say Goodbye
Alone Here I sit Starring into this mountain lake The face I see Not my own My skin so pale My eyes so dark Can’t believe This is the end
Chilly wind Blowing around me Ooh how I long For warmth of family But though I am shaking I also burn Feeling as though I’ll melt right away Freezing and sweating How can this be?
How did I end up here all alone? A moment without attention This is the price Something bite I still don’t know what I staggered on Looking for help Hoping that someone Could remove this curse
Hope too son left me I lay on the cold rock My eyesight is blurry This fever so strong But high above me A light shines Through darkness and clouds Giving me hope I close my eyes and smile Take me home ___________________________________________________ "When you do what you love best, you shine where you love."Come play the Who Am I game!

| *wide happy smile* Sad and beautiful. So good to see it back. Always had an idea where to go with it ... but never got the right pictures together. I'll look for a background picture now ... at least so much. ___________________________________________________ Indem du etwas tust, das dir oder jemand anderem gefällt, erschaffst du bereits einen Wert. | |

| Well, you'll be good if you can actually find something elfquestey in that. Really been trying to figure out/remember what inspired me there, can't...

| It's here in plain sight: But high above me A light shines and with a just so slight ... almost imperceptible mind retcon ...
