The color for a link is very similar to bold - the link is a really dark blue, and bold is black. Is there a way we can make links a more obvious color? Maybe a lighter color of blue? Pink? Something?

Just a suggestion. Smile

Actually - I noticed, I think it's because I bold my links.

So I checked and regular links are similar to the color of the regular text.

So it's difficult to spot links, regardless.

Tymber, good afternoon!

I can usually see the slight colour difference with the two background colours used here in the Holt Forums (I call 'em 'Elf Camouflage' ^_^) but the most certain way to do it is if a link displays in your browser's status bar and the arrow pointer turns into a 'hand' pointer, or at least it does that in Firefox. I think most browsers have a similar behaviour 'change' when a clickable link is hovered over. But the bolding of the linking text is a very sure way!

Bright Sky and Honoured Hunt, my friend!

Kindredsoul, good evening!

I'm fine with the way the links are displayed for my take on it, but If it's more to Tymber's liking and it's easier to pick up on what is and isn't a link, my vote's a yes for the colour change.

Don't do it if I am the only one pointing it out. Smile I was just reading someone's post - and noticed that the two colors were very similar. I suppose it'd be easier if the board did the traditional underlining of the links, but it doesn't! *shake fist!*

Honestly don't worry about it since no one else has piped up in this thread that it bothers them! Smile

I kinda got used to it that links are "invisible" for me ... Suspect

I often cannot see the difference between the link color (is it dark green? blue?) and the normal text. When the comment makes me think there should be an embedded link I try to detect it with the mouse cursor. Strangely enough links seem to be more distinct at times - and then there are some basically invisible ones again.
And I use to mark my own embedded links in bold letters to make them better visible.

Not sure whether this is the kind of problem you are talking about, Tymber.

EDIT: Makes me think of something  ... test FQ #1 test link

YUP.
When the link is done by the system (i.e. #1 always becomes a link) it is underlined.
When I actively embed a link it will not be underlined.

Here's what I was able to do.... in order to change the link color in general, all of the lettering on the site will also change. The "links" are tied into those. So red didn't look too well in coordination with the site colors.

So I was able to change the "hover" color to red. When you hover the mouse over a link, it will change to red that way

What we CAN do is choose a different color that will stand out better for the links, as well as look well with the site. Maybe a darker blue? Possibly purple?

And I honestly don't mind doing this, Tymber. It's not a complicated switcheroo and it's an idea that helps the site run more efficiently Very Happy

I'd be good with whatever color you guys pick. Even the hover over thing is an immense help (so if you want to go back to the regular colors, that hover over is a nice touch!)

So true.  Sad Now the liknks are much better visible ... but it's impossible to tell unread new posts from read new posts in the "paternoster box". Makes it harder to keep track of Latest Topics.

Sorry to butt in, hopefully this helps. I changed the colour of the visited links to a slightly different blue. Unread new posts and read new post icon haven't been changed, the unread still shows this Colors for Bold/Links Folder12, read posts till show this Colors for Bold/Links Folder10

I'm not sure what you mean, Em. Is it the icon on the board or the colour of the visited link? Embarassed

Thank you, Nibblet! Hammy

Storm and me mostly use the "Latest Topics" scroll to navigate and keep up with the news.
It was the color (or the "boldness") of the links there that made it impossible to distinct "read" from "unread". I know there are always the new post icons but I prefer the easy linking.

Looks fine again, Nibblet. Like Hopefully it will not cause other side effects.
