Actress Patty Duke has passed at age 69. Patty Duke was well known for her break out role as Helen Keller in the Broadway show The Miracle Worker and later in live played the role as The Teacher to Melissa Gilbert's role as Helen Keller. Formerly married to actor John Astin and the mother of actor Sean Astin (he played Sam Gamgee in LOTR series). Ms Duke had a very long and productive career and championed mental health issues as well. She will be missed.

I have heard the news of her passing yesterday. I didn't know her, but I found out on instagram that she is the mother of Sean Astin.
