Chatbox

I don't know if its my ridiculous old laptop or if forumotion is having CB problems again but I can't type in there. I can log in and out fine, but I can't type at all ><

EDIT - I tried deleting my cookies and all that stuff, restarting my browser and even restarting the laptop and nothing worked. The only thing left is to stab it with a teaspoon...

Ok, as far as I can tell, it's not the chatbox or forumotion, hun.

It lets me type just fine; Embala and Storm were chatting away all evening, and there were no complaints in the archives from what I could read; and I just had Serval try and she said she wasn't having any issues either...

I wish it *was* something I could fix, but it looks like the glitch is with your laptop Sad

Odd.
I tried typing in chatboxes of other sites and they all worked fine, all forumotion sites too. Trying on proboards would be silly XD

Still no joy getting into this one though. Still the same thing, I can log in but not type. Very strange!

I just thought I'd leave a note here for those in the chat room with me last weekend: my old cat, Bandit, is going to be all right! He does have the beginnings of kidney disease but there is no tumor, so with diet and medication he should live several more happy years!

At least not for me - I cannot see the chatbox anymore ... just an empty frame.

EDIT: Looks like it a problem on my side. Storm sits in the box ... looks normal for HER.

From what else you described to me in your PM, the problem MIGHT be that the chatbox is overloaded with old conversations and pictures and such. Also, it could be one of the links to a picture, or a gif (animated video) that was posted in the chatbox that has a quirk in it.

From my experience with forumotion chatboxes, it simply needs to be cleared periodically. So I'm going to give you and Storm "mod" status for the chatbox.
You'll see an @ before your name in the chatbox.
To clear the chatbox, all you have to do is type /clear and although it will erase all previous conversations, this also helps fix alot of lag and problems.

So we'll try that first, and if the problems persist, simply let me know and I'll look further into it Wink

We'll do our best to clean the chatbox regulary. I hope this will help with the occational "wonkyness".

Sadly I still cannot even SEE the chat box ... less the log in button. Storm said it happened to her as well previously ... but only for minutes or hours. So there's good chance the problem has disappaered tomorrow *crossing fingers*

If not ... I'll need to look for a problem at my side. There were automatical updates yesterday - maybe Firefox or some firewall does not agree with the chatbox. Need to ask someone who knows where to look in this case.

I'm not sure what shows (or doesn't show) for each member, but for some, the site may be wonky. Chat box not showing up, the topic scroll bar isn't scrolling, the "quick reply" box doesn't show the tool bar menu, etc, etc,...

I just wanted everyone to know it's nothing to worry about. I checked with support and even their home site is having some of the same problems, which is probably due to the maintenance/upgrades they do, and everything should be fine sometime tonight or tomorrow morning Smile

all is good! Everything cleared up later that night... so whether it was a maintenance thing, or maybe something with my end, it's all fine ^__^ I just worried maybe things might have been glitchy for others but I've heard no complaints Wink

Can you PM? Please contact Nibblet - you two should be able to find out what's wrong and probably fix it! Please try, PC ... it's not much use if I inform her because I cannot tell about the nature of the problem.

Wait ... wait - there was something with my access *tries to remember*

It was my anti-virus /anti-banner /add-blocking program! I have Kaspersky - and if I remember right I had to allow banners on this site. Or ... data collecting? I'm not sure anymore anc cannot find the functions right now. I'm sure YOU can find out by testing ... and in case it's this problem - you can decide what you WANT to do. At least you'd have a choice, PC.

See above, Nibblet - I had it some day. Couldn't even see the Chatbox.
Then I had the idea to change the settings of my Kaspersky antivir software. Back to normal for me.

EDIT:
"disable data mining" - no chatbox visible
"enable data mining" (for this site) - chatbox is fine for me
