| Cover art is released. and the usual spoiler: - Quote :
- Throughout the entirety of ElfQuest, Cutter and Skywise have been “brothers in all but blood.” Now the Stargazer must make an inescapable choice—remain on the World of Two Moons with his heart-family, or travel among the stars as he has always longed. Can his bond with Cutter survive? Meanwhile, human invaders once again threaten a sacred elf-home with fire, and there is only one who can stand in their way. A long-enduring character will not survive this issue!

| Looks like the "Rootless Ones" will serve a purpose finally! First thought given the cover and the spoiler information: Redlance will become one of the fungus elves. (But first thought is mostly wrong when the "heartbreaking news" will be revealed finally, given the experiance with FQ so far.) Though ... "long-enduring" should be a Wolfrider from EQ #1 - or who else? ___________________________________________________ Indem du etwas tust, das dir oder jemand anderem gefällt, erschaffst du bereits einen Wert. | |

| Don't see much danger. I consider them bound to a mycelium underground - it will survive. "Rootless Ones" ... among all the names they were givenby fans and officials this one struck me as the must unlike. The most misleaading one. The most ironical. Those "Rootless Ones" are rooted so deep in Abodean soil that they are unwilling and unable to leave this place! ___________________________________________________ Indem du etwas tust, das dir oder jemand anderem gefällt, erschaffst du bereits einen Wert. | |

| If that's their official name is seems to be a lazy tie-in with Savah's group.
I wonder if they killing off Redlance? He's been though a lot of traumatic stuff already. ___________________________________________________ 'We're all broken, in different ways, in varying degrees.'

| Redlance will probably be the one to die-- because he's on the cover. That's my guess.
Yes- that picture of the female keeps popping up all over the place. But I do like the drawing of Redlance. It's very dynamic.

| Yes, it is. Even the colors fit the occasion.
His dream ... "I am the spirit of the Fathertree." ... it can be meant quite literally. In a new Fathertree Holt for the Wolfriders staying on Abode. Would mean that Nightfall will stay too dor sure. ___________________________________________________ Indem du etwas tust, das dir oder jemand anderem gefällt, erschaffst du bereits einen Wert.

| It could also be Pike--- maybe he decides to exit stage left heroically with Krim.
Or Treestump. He is kind of old right now.
Or it could be Nightfall-- her dream she comes up with a solution that seems to make her happy, but we don't know what it is. Maybe she sacrifices herself? Who knows...
Or maybe it's Moonshade. Moonshade has had a lot of build up. This might be her curtain call. Then Strongbow would have to decide whether to go with the Palace to be with her spirit, because she couldn't choose to stay with him.

| If it was one of the main characters, that is to say wolfriders, it would be hyped up alot more than this. I'm gonna guess it's someone really old tho, maybe Savah decides to sacrifice her life in some way to save the fungelves, or she joins them or something. | |

| Redlance has the facial expression of someone, who can't act and is supposed to do some tragic scenes in a film It's not just since FiQu that Wendy's line of beauty (always draw elves as pretty as possible) gets into conveying real emotions. I don't like the cover. My guess is, that the dying long-enduring character is going to be someone from the fungi elves. They lived for a long time, they are disposable (as if most Wolfriders weren't) and maybe the will show, that they can live on in the mycelic system. This will probably give some ideas to Redlance (his dream about the roots of the father tree) and still convince more immortals to leave the planet. Also, when will the drama around Door happen? Next issue, to be solved in one issue or in #22 and #23? ___________________________________________________ It's a dolphin!

| They are green, it's just a tiny blue shadow, that throws you off. But he has really long finger nails for a man, and living in China, I absolutely hate that! I hope Redlance dies for this ___________________________________________________ It's a dolphin!

| Nope, I'm more inclined to think its a colouring mistake. Wouldn't be surprising. Nah, his beard being bunt off is good enough for me. ___________________________________________________ 'We're all broken, in different ways, in varying degrees.'

| It can't be Redlance, that would be too obvious. He looks like he's lunging for something/someone... They did say a long-enduring character and that doesn't need to be an elf, as we know. Maybe it's the Father Tree. Plus, it would tie in to Redlance's dream. So, the Father Tree is probably toast due to a fire the humans set to it. Of course the compost elves are involved as this ties to them directly.
My second guess is a preserver. Of course there's also the possibility of it being Nightfall or Tyleet but I really doubt it because I do welcome real tragedy in FQ as it would move along the storyline to make it actually match these ridiculous 'preview' ploys that are misleading and not in a good way. ___________________________________________________ Thank you for the beautiful banner, Embala

| So tiresome, that they make promises in FQ all the time and then you get dissapointed. The "long-enduring character" is probably someone unimportant, a redshirt that happened to be around for a long time. I hope for Nightfall or Moonshade but I agree it's probably a perserver or another wolf or the Father Tree or something stupid like that. I hope they finally leave for the stars. Get it over with already! ___________________________________________________ | |

| 'A long standing character'...really, that could be anyone. Door. The baker from Sorrows End. As Shadowpath pointed out, last time they pulled this stunt it was a wolf. Please, stop it with the over dramatic anti-climaxes. And elves have been facing life wrenching choices for at least the last ten issues, ditto with the human threat. | |

| But if it IS Redlance, I'm joining Redhead Ember on her march. (I mean, if that's cool, Redhead.) Redlance isn't my favorite character, but I like him all the same. ___________________________________________________ “Stay drunk on writing so reality doesn’t destroy you.” - Ray Bradbury.

| Maybe it will be Moonshade. Maybe her invisible-trick will be useful fighting the Humans ... but not useful to allow her to escape.

| YES let it be Timmain! She creeps me out lately. Although if that happens, I could see another vague new agey scene where her spirit merges with Cutters (which, of course, we will not be allowed to call merging since they were one to begin with, and Wendy will come up with other new agey term) and he'll talk nonsense for at least two more issues. ___________________________________________________ | |

| While I perfectly understand, that someone doesn't want to see his or her favourite character die, what kind of story do you want to read? EQ is a story which features war and other dangers (life of a Wolfrider is short and sharp, you know), to be credible death must be a "story option". I would argue, that the lack of death is why the supposed drama is unconvincing. Almost all Wolfriders have survived from OQ. There was only One-Eye and the "off screen Wolfriders" with no familiy ties to "on screen Wolfriders*".
*Pike/Rainsong don't count, was their relationship ever mentioned in the comics?
