Maybe I'll draw something someday, if I'm in the mood.
I love seeing the color variations! It's like sweets for the eyes!
I don't really have an elf self, so you wouldn't need to worry about including me. I just want to see something with everyone else. However it is done I think it would be lovely.

Thank you, jaRf.
Ohhh... Vaeri. I am blown away. I absolutely love your artworks! <3 The richness of the colors, the shading...they're masterpieces! <3 So glad you shared with us! Thank you!!!!
My elf self was called Fairyring but now her name is Prayer. She was renamed because of her loving prayers for the tribe.
Your colors for Prayer are just like I imagined. Thank you. It's beautiful.
@Evil Evie: I plan a group picture as our elf selves. Would it be okay for you if I would include you, looking like Venka?

If I had to choose an elf self I think it would look like an amalgamation of Cutter and Foxfur. I did some thinking last night and remembered an OC I created years ago that came about because of a recognition between those two. *laughs* I daydream up some interesting things.

Prayer, I cannot (at all) draw but I'll tell you how I envision my elf-self ( since loooong ) :
Sort of a grown-up Sunstream, in a kind of futuristic space suit, seemingly simple yet evolved, subtle, sober, elegant. Main colours for it are jet black + light ( sapphire ) blue and deep blue + silver ; minor colours are amethyst, linings of clear gold, forest green + sand clear yellow ( his mingled origins, "from both forest and desert" ). He still has his very tanned skin, clear blue eyes, blond hair ( but in a slightly, more adapted and restrained haircut ).
( While browsing the myriad of sci-fi pictures I collected for years, I realize..
..it's very difficult finding the picture of a spacesuit not too heavy )
He wears a very special long saber ( straight back but doubly incurved edge, like the weapon named 'flissa' on our world ), made mainly of synthetic sapphire, a vibrating blade set to cut to the bone and through much, that he wields extremely precisely ( high and loooooong training ) in order to limit physical damages for the enemy to the exact required efficient minimum, a weapon also able to send micro darts (paralysing poison or explosive).
( What does a flissa look like? this )
I see him as educated ( intellectually and scientifically) in the extreme through manymanymany contacts with other sentient beings, all along the Palace's spatial explorations, wanting to UNDERSTAND all or most of those strange races that the Palace elves will meet or will have ( unfortunately ) to fight..
..or defend against.
Far ahead in the future.
I love sci-fi.
( one of the covers for the "Dune" cycle, by Frank Herbert )
Add a cape ( for chameleon effect ) for NOT displaying his appearance to anyone or robotic observation units ( he has come to value discretion, for special operations ).
He is STILL a dreamer..
..but now he dreams a better future for EVERYONE.
Far more a scientist than a fighter or extreme spy, even if he HAS to play those roles. Hence some specific data-stealing system integrated to his stuff and costume ( maybe some kind of hi-tech discrete bracelets ).
( I am TOTALLY unable to draw anything, but..
..I'm very fond of character-customization programs. Here, a character I designed with such a system, for a futuristic role-playing game session. )
I feel you're an artist enough to explore that vision. But if you don't feel like trying your hands on it, any other artist, here, may also try, why not...

My eyes see with joy such a clear vision of an admirable, futuristic self elf. This descripton is truly fascinating. Thank you so much, PC! I will give it a try for sure and feel very honoured for this commission.

I have to thank you in advance for even trying, some day, dear Prayer! A good visual ( and heartwarming ) complement would be a furry creature, an animal companion, maybe resembling a little those extremely beautiful animals called 'genets', on our world ( long tail, cat-like, very quick, dart-like head movements ), maybe just a little smaller ( an adult genet is roughly 1 meter long, head to tail).

Yes to furry friend, PC!
Cool...
Ain't this young genet..
..cute?
I studied these animals ( Genetta Genetta and other varieties ), and they are lovable creatures,
ones that have for loooong FREELY chosen to CO-EXIST with us.. ..and who proved to be the very BEST rodent-killing creatures we EVER lived with!
Their fur is coarser than cats' and they do smell of musk, yes.. ..but they are VERY clean animals, and extremely agile predators, FAR more efficient than cats.

Your elf self description is so detailed PC, I love it, it is so perfect for you.
Thanks, but I must admit I didn't go far into details, though.
If Prayer is curious enough, she'll find muchmuchmuch more data about me simply by exploring this place for my past posts. Or by chatting with such good friends as Kin and Embala.
Only curiosity and imagination..
..define intelligence.
Well... For Prayer's possible attention, I'll add something more personal. My INTJ personality type and my all-too rational mind make me mentally resemble a lot to the infamous Sherlock..
..of the BBC One channel, and such traits do not allow me to believe in such things as "reincarnation" cycles... Yet...
I once found this portrait..
..and I had ( and still have ) the strange feeling of looking into a mirror.
Yes: the human mind is a weird thing..
For instance, this self-protrait by Van Gogh, I have the odd feeling..
..it goes straight through my computer screen!
Am I crazy or just too much into aesthetic sense...?

I apologize for dropping out here for short. Real life captures my time and attention.
I lurk. I enjoy what I see and what I read. Thank you so much for marvellous Merbala, Fairyring. I love to see your powerful take on Embala, Vaeri. Thank you! And thanks for sharing your vision about your self-elf, PC. Genets are adoroble.
I'll be back for proper commenting soon, I promise. All this beautiful work deserves attention and appreciation. *bows*

Thank you Evil Evie. I hope Vaeri will like it as well...her self elf is such an inspirational beauty! I would like to learn more about her background. Right now coloring her with pastels.

wow that is exquisite prayer!!! Vaeri looks absolutely gorgeous! <3 almost like something she'd wear in the palace sort of thing...! but oh so lovely. i WAS going to color Merbala, because mermaids are awesome and i love them...but now i gotta color my girl first. XD
ya know funny enough, Vaeri is not much like me! in terms of appearance, we're very different...but she embodies some things i love. gold eyes, she's a seamstress, and the color teal and transparent fabrics.
but if you're really curious...
Vaeri's Story:
her story needs changing or updating because i fear some aspects i do not like and some i fear are not very original, but it started out as a kind of parallel universe to the canon Elfquest. the same events in general happened, but they happened to different people.
Vaeri was born in the Sun Village, which is just like the one we knew...however she kinda took the place of Ahnshen, and is the village seamstress/tanner/weaver and so forth. She never recognized anyone in the village, but grew into a fairly respected elder after a thousand some years. She'd enjoy nothing more than sitting in a warm spot, sewing together a new piece of clothing she dreamed up for someone. however unfortunately, humans of the primitive sort(think original quest era humans) found Sorrow's End and attacked it, killing nearly everyone. originally only Vaeri survived, who was horror struck to see what violence had fallen on her home.
Of course she couldn't stay there anymore, so she gathered what she could and make the difficult trip across the desert. In this universe, she found a way through the cliffs in a gap in the stone, rather than a troll cavern. And she found the green-growing place of legend. She decided to settle here and found herself a cave, and began trying to live, trying to learn about this place. What she didn't know was that elves were already here, the Wolfriders.
This tribe is all different from the original..but they are on their "Blood of Twelve" chief, a female. i have the chief's line drawn down somewhere..much more magically based than their canon counterparts. One of the Wolfriders "Raincatcher", not fond of the name, found Vaeri and recognized her, and brought her back to his tribe. They had a lot of difficulties at first, like him horrified she was unable to send or anything the Wolfrider's could do, and she in turn horrified by their animalistic habits such as eatting meat raw(though not all the time, just the majority of times).
But eventually they were able to come to an understanding and lifemated, and had a daughter, "Mothsilk". Unfortunately the forest did have humans, which trigged a very PTSD reaction in Vaeri, making her violent and angry, wanting to kill all the humans for what they had done to her tribe. It often takes the Wolfrider's healer to knock her unconcious so she can calm down after the humans have passed.
At some point, for some reason, the Wolfrider's decide to travel, and end up finding the Gliders and Go-backs. They probably found the Palace, like the canon did. however unlike canon, they do manage civil coexistence with the Gliders, and even lived with them for a couple years, to the point where Vaeri has a Glider's gown she designed and wears. thanks to Wingthing, i did throw in Green Moon Bay and her Pirate Tribe, and this was ultimately where Vaeri and "Raincatcher" settled down. By this point, she had largely gotten over her PTSD, though she still really did not like humans..but she had found peace in the tropical climate and the ocean.
and that's Vaeri's overall original story. as i said, some details i really wanna change like names and appearances, and some details i just never totally figured out...XD but my friend did design an elf self who is very much like me, in that she looks and acts a lot like me! she's a Gliding Dragonrider!!! i suppose i ought to ink and color her myself, she's been a sketch far too long...XD

Thank you. It was fun to play with the colors on her dress. Glad you like it as well Vaeri. If not, please tell me what I can improve, please. It's YOUR self elf after all. I wish to portray correctly.
Oh, I checked the web version, she looks normal sized on mobile version. I always use mobile version. Can you click on the picture and see the full drawing? Sorry for the oversize in web version and thank you for informing me, Embala. <3 It's not very eye-pleasing if she is "cut".
I absolutely love the story of Vaeri in the alternate EQ universe, Vaeri...! So sad with the lost Sunvillages but great friendship with the Gliders. I like how some things are familiar. All different characters make me curious about their names, how they look, etc..
When I read those stories I feel an urge to illustrate them. All the pictures in my head, the action, the romance, the colors. I wish I had endless time for drawing and art. I have respect for comic artists like elfmom. It's a very hard job, especially with deadlines...I loved how in "Hidden Years", (Little Patch for example) every panel seemed to be an artwork of its own. Sorry, my thoughts are wandering now...
Vaeri, the scetch of your other self elf 'Fairbreeze' is very gorgeous!
I am looking forward to your coloring of Vaeri. <3
