Before I go farther into trying to help re-design this site here...

.. I MUST say Embala is THE one having both the graphic tools AND the experience required

to turn this website into a totally wonderful new Scroll of Colors of ours.

NO flattery, really.

I have an idea for Embala actually... But I must get together with Miss Nibblet first before going into details Wink

It's no problem at all!

Just wanted to give a heads up on some hopeful things to come. As always, feedback is welcome Very Happy

I know a good bit of stuff has already been done, but in the process of doing so, even more ideas popped up too!
There's a banner project that came to mind due to something Nibblet found during her sorting and packing, which is what I hope Embala will be interested in Wink  I'm DYING to say more about it, but I also wanted it to be a surprise for you guys I love you
So just be patient on that since Nibblet has her hands full right now with her packing and moving!

The pictures and text for the sections on the main page will also be changed.... again. I'm sorry! LOL My OCD is driving me nuts about it. It didn't turn out as nice as I hoped, so PCoquelin suggested some ideas I'm going to try. So bear with me! My schedule is insane with the two jobs and Easter holiday coming up.

But the layout itself will stay the same since it seems to be easier for everyone to use!

As always, I'm open to suggestions at anytime. This is everyone's place to play, so it should involve everyone's voice as well Wink

That was amazing, thanks for sharing. I agree with the shivers...can't exactly put my finger on why I reacted that way, but...I love this video.

You know, Timmain, because of the Pini's way of handling their fansite, I, for one, am now quite indifferent about what becomes of what I post. Everything important is saved, here, anyway.

I admit in advance I may be wrong in posting this or that, here or there, this way or another.
Provided some minimum respect is shown, by motivating the change and by warning me before, I wouldn't be shocked if my posts here ended removed, moved, or re-organized.

I'll post what I'll post, and..

.. bast !

But never removed, moved, or re-organized. There's this little thing called freedom that works here....

As a user I have some responsibility. As an admin, you have some responsibility.
I just warned you of what I, for one, would accept, here. Part of my responsibility to do so.

Freedom means responsibility...

...which is precisely why so many people fear it.

Words for everyone to live by Wink

But here’s what I’ve witnessed, and learned as well.

When our numbers were far greater than they are now at the original Scrolls, practically everyone there lived by those words. No matter how intense, or deep, or sensitive the issue was being discussed…. No matter how members came to disagree with each other, or voicing their own different opinions, everyone still beheld respect for one another.

I saw it back then.

And I’ve seen it here already.

That not only takes responsibility with freedom, but it also takes trust.

Trusting in each other. Trusting that everyone will uphold one another’s freedom. Trust in everyone to be, and remain, respectful.

That’s what I have in everyone here.  I love you

.

.

.

.

I want to keep everyone informed of what's being worked on. As many of you may have already noticed, the bio boxes beneath the avatars have been turned off after receiving feedback/and poll results from members

Also, there were problems with some of the section images that led the main page to become extensively elongated, and cutting off the topic scoll bar. So I took them all down for now.
BUT, there's some new ideas being worked on for the site appearance as well  Very Happy

I did a little merging with a couple of threads (as was suggested), but no thread was, or ever will be, deleted. Like I explained before, when I first put up the site, I made the sections in haste simply to have them up. So I'm just cleaning things to make it more efficient for everyone. Very Happy

I'm not quite done yet, but I hope this helps make things more user friendly for everyone

I think I covered everything for now, and will keep everyone posted as work progresses!

Always yours,
Timmain/Kindredsoul

I agree.

One important lesson to be learned about what we lived for years...
...and from what happened lately is this :

1. Respect has to be earned and may be lost

2. IMPORTANT changes ought to be DISCUSSED first, properly DECIDED UPON TOGETHER (preferrably by vote), and ALL elf-friends here had better be WARNED ABOUT them... BEFORE the changes are applied

3. Trust WILL come in time and will bring wonders

Sharing comes with rules...

...the clearer the better.

But be certain, dear elf-friends, that...

One suggestion :

Wouldn't it be great to have the link to the online read of Elfquest ?

I mean, in front, on the first page here, easy to access ?

Another thing...

Am I the only one missing a "Like" button, here, in order to quickly react and express enthusiasm and appreciation for some post ?

And... Maybe it could be more than this FB-like thingie, with some simple variations, like :
. Funny !
. Cool
. More !

Wouldn't it be worth some cool discussion, here?...

Or maybe...

...I spend just too much time on FB.

For now, the website here looks like this, here :

( upper left view )

A few more remarks and questions :

The look :

. Will the background, now looking like an old-fashioned greenish wallpaper, be changed into something, say, more EQ-related and joyous ?

. Which pictures shall come before the text of sections ?

How it works :

. Is there a way to get the precise list of one's own POSTS, and to reach one EASILY, here ? ( I mean without having to explore each and every possible thread one has posted into... )

. Will there be a way to DELETE one's own posts, if need be ? ( even if it's by asking an admin or mod, first )

Please?... BECAUSE you want this place...

...to become our real home ?...

There is already a way to find your posts. Click on your name to view your profile (view it, not edit it with the profile button on the menu bar) then click the statistics tab. You can find all your posts by clicking the option in that.

Personally, I like the green leafy background. It gives this place a foresty feel to it. I think it fits well with the Father Tree Holt name of the site.

My apologies for not seeing your suggestions sooner Shocked  How I missed this... *just shakes my head with repeated facepalms*

But I added the online comic link. It can be found right under the disclaimer (below the topics scroll bar) Great suggestion PC Wink

I can add icons (even the "FB like thumb) to the emoticons box to be used as such if that works ^___^

Looking into this  Wink  and will let you know

As for the background..
Lunakat offered to work on some background ideas (one maybe being stars to represent the world of Two Moons (since having a 2 moon image repeated in the background would just look like dots), and to also offfset the green of the main page (forest theme)  But I know she's been busy with whatever she has her fingers crossed for.

I'll start a poll to see what the members would like  Very Happy

She was also going to work on the "branch" sections and "leaf" icons that PCoquelin suggested, but Nibblet also sent me the "topic" icons from the old scrolls I was going to add

Did I cover everything?  Shocked  Laughing  Laughing

Not quite a like button, but you can use # and @ on here. So I can say #lookatthisthingbeingahashtag and you can click it, and if anyone else has written the same hashtag, you can search for it, just like twitter. And if I want to mention you in a post I can @ you. So I can go @PCoquelin, check out my post! And you should get a notification, pretty much the same way as facebook and the thing Rob did on the scroll. But ours is more awesome because we have a democracy XD. I hope this helps (and makes sense to other people and not just me!)

I emitted only suggestions, dear friends.

PLEEEEEEEZE, do NOT feel forced to follow them.

They are to be discussed first, if worth it, with pros and cons exposed and debated, and...

...important changes ought to be voted upon,

hmmmm..?

I'm glad that there's a new forum but I can't help but feel that this forum looks old-fashioned (especially the buttons underneath someone's post - I also think that those buttons might fit better just below the avatar and userinfo)

By the way I noticed that the ElfQuest emoticons aren't transparent, I think I can make them transparent if you'd like?
