Morbid Quest... - Page 2 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Morbid Quest...   Morbid Quest... - Page 2 EmptyFri Feb 06, 2015 9:33 pm

With a new generation of elves, the tribe (can we really call it that? There doesnt seem to be a distiction of true "wolfriders" for over 20,000 years...) split again, lead by Korafey, to seek out friendship with all races everywhere. After all, it all worked out when Cutter sought out other tribes, whats the difference?

The elders warned them, urged them, and finally forbade them from contacting the humans. The younglings, and some of the firstcomers too for some reason, stuck their fingers in their ears, waggled their toungs, turned around and left the holt.

They were never heard from again.

Cutter and his somewhat smaller band werent sure what to do next, but to keep on hunting in the forests of the wild places, the deserts, and anywhere else they could keep from interacting with those who would destroy their homes, satisfied as only The Way could allow a childless tribe to carry on.

And they lived happily ever after.

Well, until deforestation and irrigation allowed humans to live pretty much everywhere, rounded up the remaining elves, ran tests on them and finally vivasected them. Fortunately the humans were able to derive a drug from the dieing elves that would allow two cancer victims to live 6 months longer.

In a shocking turn of events, several spinoffs of the Final Quest are printed, one based on the exploits of the Tree and Lobster...

Even more shocking, it becomes a TnL/Star Trek crossover.

Even more shocking, in this AU, the federation have been taken over by mechanical bananas.

Redhead Ember defects immediately when she hears the words "We are the Borge, Resistance is futile, We will add your dancelogical distictiveness to our own...."

PostSubject: Re: Morbid Quest...   Morbid Quest... - Page 2 EmptyFri Feb 20, 2015 12:59 pm

A new revelation develops in the history of the Palace. We find out that there used to be more Preservers back when the ship crashed. A LOT more.

But when the wanderers found the Palace a few hundred years after the crash, abandoned even by the humans nearby, they figured they would mothball the place as it might be a while to get everyone back there (boy would they be suprised).

A couple of thousand years after that, a small group of elves that had been the custodians of the majority of the Preservers ( and had become extremely dependent on them in the process) found the Palace and sent them in to check the place out. The Preservers, having been decendents of moths in the first place, were wiped out by the mothballs. The Elves, losing their means of hunting and gathering food, were wiped out shortly thereafter.

So why didnt we know this before?

When the Trolls showed up and found the palace after the deep freeze, they pillaged it for everything of value they could find. This included the bones of the elves (useful for tools as pure elfin bones are more sturdy than that of any animal, weight for weight), and the bejeweled wings of the dead preservers. This pretty much cleaned out any remains that remained of the remaining evidence that there were more Preservers and elves around long ago. 8000 years helped clean out the rest ( as well as the mothballs, I mean have you heard of a 10000 year mothball?)

The Trolls used the wings as currency for a while as it couldnt be counterfitted, but eventually the delecate irridescence wore off and they fell out of use, eventually finding their way down into the depths of the Black Caverns, where the Frozen Mountain Trolls leave their waste and no one dares to tread.

Too bad, too.... there is a process by which a preserver can be cloned or brought back to life using their wings....

Cutter meets his end while playing fetch with his new wolf friend, Chitterchaser. After a day of chasing squirrels, the wolf had rolled in the dead carcasses of some of the same it had killed two weeks prior, and while playing fetch-stick, a tooth knicked Cutter's hand.

Three days later he succumbed to foaming sickness. Leetah, who we know is Winnie in disguise (oh yes she is, Winnie in disguise... *sung by Elvish*) found something better to do in the Sun Village, letting him die in horrible agony, which was fully felt by Skywise as well, two for one for Winnie....

So lets see, thats:
Winnie: 2.5
Cutter: 1
Squirrels: 2

(Counting the prior squirrel incedent, where a squirrel nearly killed cutter as squirrels:1 Cutter:1, and Winnie/Leetah killed off Leetah/Leetah and took her body, failed to heal Cutter, and affected Skywise, therefore 2.5)

Chitterchaser, on the other hand, is immune to squirrelborne foaming sickness and is currently Chitterchaser:1402, Squirrels:0

And in the next episode we find out why all the elves left...

Have you ever noticed how much the Palace has in common with a TARDIS?

The major difference is the Doctor has control over the interior theme.

The palace can do everything else, but the Elves are dependant on a tech person to make changes and do updates, but while they do seem to get the updates often enough, the theme suggestions they ask for seem to evaporate faster than a mouse staring into the time vortex. As such they have little control over their Palace, got tired and left with the Doctor on one of his visits, who was kind enough to lend them one of his control rooms to decorate as they saw fit.

Now the Blue Box gets really shiny every time it takes off or lands....

We also find that there were some earlier experiments that went on in Blue Mountain prior to Egg's Egg project. Before this it was a cube and allowed Winnie to visit earth at one time... the problem was that it only worked one time and in one direction, flinging Egg and Winnie into our distant past.

To make a long story short, she caused the fall of Rome, exacerbated the dark ages, and has pretty much been the sole instigator behind any stereotype that paints women in a bad light. At a point in our future, Egg will finish another cube that will allow them to go back to Abode, whereupon Egg will work on improving the design into the Egg, which will be depicted in many works by several people here on earth ironically, even more so that one Egg or other will be depicted on an egg in the future....

And then the Quest ended, the Elves banded off in separate ways, the Trolls whiled away at their forges, and mankind slept peacefully without fear of their fears.

Unfortunately for them, wasnt so simple, as the spirit of Winnowil met the spirit of Door and spiritually conceived a horror beyond all experience.

And Webcoil was born....

The Quest was over finally, the Elves all got laid off, and for a while they meandered around in the Palace, which was re-arranged into a flying Winnebago, much like that on Spaceballs.

The aforementioned Webcoil caused normal space and cyberspace to cross over at a KOA campground that they just happened to be at, and as a result when they took off, they crashed into this forum.

They shook it off and began to post comments on what they found here.

Here's what I have found so far....

I mean, it's easy to get a cat with different colored eyes, throw it in the washer with a half a quart of bleach and run it on heavy duty for 15 minutes, then throw it in the drier (because who really wants a wet.... kitty?) for another half hour.... Stand well back, open the door and PRESTO, a fluffy white kitty with different colored eyes!  No big deal, right?

Then I became quite impressed at how the person got it to calm down for a picture.....

A little gem after my own heart, imprinting the shells of embryos of various creatures with artistic representations of one's experiences... Masterful use of line and form, and it's quite impressive that the image is imprinted through the shell onto the creature inside, the chemicals causing various birth defects and other changes... I could only do slightly better, but would probably hand it off to a rock-shaper...."

We find out that Recognition IS indeed wolfrider specific...

It came from the lupine side of the family, the natural "heat" urge of the spring, morphed inadvertantly by Elfin Sending into what became known as Recognition, which then worked, through sending, with other Elves.

This was due to the "magic" being purely biological, via a poorly understood "super pheremone" that could achieve effects at great distances and affect even stone and water. The planet had been saturated with a volatile chemical millions of years before that suppressed pheremones. The native population had adapted around it, though, by simply turning up the quantity produced to achieve results. This made the Palace, controlled by pheremones, to crash in the first place, mucked with the Elves powers, and so on. They, too, adapted.

When they left and landed on another planet, however....

Well, to make a long story short, they landed in springtime on an earth like planet generally ruled by a life form that had origionated as a canine spieces. Every single elf with the slightest trace of wolfblood was immediately Recognized to various members of the incompatible natives in an endless cycle, terminating any possible pairings between themselves and ending the race of Wolfriders eventually (well, those that hadnt offended officials and fighters with undue overtures that resulted in their undoing rather quickly... the natives were over 12 feet tall standing on all fours to begin with).

The others, few as purebloods were, left quickly, becoming a new circle of nine, exploring space and time... until next time.

PostSubject: Re: Morbid Quest...   Morbid Quest... - Page 2 EmptyTue May 12, 2015 3:54 pm

The internet is invented on the World of Two Moons...

We can gauge that, astrophysics being what they are and whatnot, that Elf Quest 'happened' a lot farther along in the future, being that we live on a planet orbiting a second gen star. The High Ones came from a planet that had exhausted itself (and as all things come from the sun, I'd guess their sun was exhausted as well), so they had to have been at least post gen 2 time period, which is in the future. And then the story is 10,000-20,000 years after that....

But as they used semiconductor chips made out of the Palace in their computers, none of this matters as they form up their 'network of networks' and it links in with ours quite well in about 6 months from now.

Cutter and his gang tried to create accounts at Elfquest.com.... and couldn't.

So they went elsewhere. They miss the other fan sites completely and became fans of Ralph Bakshi's work, joined a fan site and ended up striking a deal with him to do a mixed-media documentary of their experiences.

They were about 75% done with the pilot episode when disaster struck. Ralph Bakshi ran out of money to do the rest of the animation, and Earth banks won't accept wire transfers from a future, distant world that may even be fictional, so the Elves couldn't use Troll Gold to pay for it. In a pinch, Ralph hires an independent artist to do the rest of the animation, but runs into trouble when it's discovered that he hired WaRP Graphics unintentionally. Before they could complain, though, Warner Brothers slapped a Cease and Desist order on the whole thing as they had maintained a partial interest in the movie rights. The fact that the characters from a fictional story had started the whole thing was lost on everyone involved, and the Elves ended up moving on to other things of interest... in another galaxy... where even they were amazed at what sort of porn was available.

Two-Edge, on the other hand, found Earth's Internet and the humans feeding it to be as twisted as his childhood, and ended up subscribing to every single forum, social networking site, and any other thing he could post his ramblings on, because at least finally, here, he could fit in.

Picknose wrote:

As requested by Manga...

As I previously mentioned in another thread, understanding of how a wolf pack operates has changed a lot over the years. Old 'knowledge' of wolf hierarchy came from observing captive wolves, who mostly live in unnatural packs for reasons that will become obvious as I explain. This gave a very skewed understanding of wolf pack behaviour.

From studies of packs in the wild, it is now understood that a wolf 'pack' is actually a wolf family. The alphas are actually Mum and Dad, with a bunch of immature offspring up to about age three, plus maybe some daughters that stick around to strengthen the pack and help raise the cubs. Mature sons usually leave the pack. The alphas lead because they are actually the group's parents. The offspring juggle for dominance among themselves, and may occasionally challenge their parents. Sometimes this might the equivalent of a teenage blowout, a "you can't tell me what to do, Dad..." or maybe the parents are getting old. Most challenges are just bluster and posturing, although occasionally there might be a nasty one.

In captivity there are both mature male as well as female offspring in the pack, because they never leave - which leads to more challenges because these are wolves who should be off leading families of their own. The Wolfrider pack follows this old idea, with a mixture of mature males and females.

I still say, either way, Trolls are much more sensible about such things...

...Wait...

Announcer:"In a behind-the-scenes look, today on the Two Moons show we interview some of the cast from the Elf Quest series Final Quest."

Announcer: "We'll start with you, Two Edge. How do you feel about your recent re-employment by the Pinis to tell their tale? Seems like you have been getting some scene-time!"

Two-Edge: "Not sure how to feel about it, this job causes me to flit."

Announcer: "what do you mean, if I might ask?"

Two Edge: "Due to the various budget concerns, while I may appear healthy among Elves and ferns, Im often packing my shoulders in ices, due to the Pini's demand for my plot devices."

Announcer: "ooch, so you're the real brawn behind some of the more contrived scenes?"

Two-Edge: "Aye, and the brains as well at times." (Pops a couple of asprin and sets back in his chair to nurse a headache.)

Announcer: "Well, I guess we should turn to a very central character to the story, perhaps to get some more light on recent events that have the forums in an uproar. Timmain, why did you and the others just let Rayak wander out the door after such a minor attempt to heal Winnie?"

Timmain: "...thats a complex little answer you are asking for, the more simple part of it should be quite obvious: there were very few in that room that hadnt been mind-raped by ol' Winnie at one point or other, and seeing her get her's... well, it shouldn't seem too unreasonable to feel like there was some small justice to it."

Announcer: "but that all happened long ago, and its well established she's mentally ill... doesnt that seem just a little cruel?"

Timmain: "hmmph... well, I suppose its bad to hold a grudge for upwards of 15000 years for some of us, and it might seem like her death was a long time ago, but it really hasnt been if you think about it. She tortured Elves, Humans, Trolls, animals ...even her own son for well over ten thousand years, and she's been locked up in Rayak's head for just a few decades. She hasnt really come to grips with dieing yet, much less the wierd fetishes Rayak has in private..."

Rayak: "I never...!"

Timmain: "Are you kidding? Besides Sunstream linking everyone together so everyone knows everything about everyone, supposedly, you let us into your head to work on Winnie... she cant do too much without a body, but she can sure gossip!"

(The stage erupts a Rayak grabs his chair and flies over to Timmain, who is already surrounded by Cutter, Leetah, and a few others. A fight breaks out for a few minutes with few results with all the healers around. Redlance manages to grow a Groot-like tree-web around the combatants and separate them into their own holding cells to chill out.)

Announcer: "We'll be back after some words from these fine sponsors...."

Morbid Quest... - Page 2 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Morbid Quest...   Morbid Quest... - Page 2 EmptyTue Jul 28, 2015 7:44 pm

...These are the voyages of the LLC Kickstarter. Its new mission: to explore strange new ideas, to seek out new talent and new plotlines, to boldly produce what no one has produced before.

Captian's log, Shipdate: who cares.  I have to say, I'm finally sick and tired of surfing the internet.  As stated in an earlier log entry, I've long since given up finding any fresh ideas to bring to the big screen, and have spent the last three years just looking through Amazon and Ebay for good deals on space ship parts to keep this crate running.

Today, I embark on what I hope will be the last leg of my journey.  Just one more tiny planet out among the stars, and I can punch up the main drives full blast for home.  I've been alone far too long for anyone's good, and since there's been nothing to spend my pitiful pay on but parts for the ship, I should have quite the wad to blow in Vegas.

There's really nothing to report that hasn't been reported every day since I started this wonderful trip, but at the same time I don't really feel like hanging up the recorder just yet, what with no one and nothing else to talk to within 247 light years.

Anyway, the last star on the chart to check out is a tiny thing, and I'd just skip it if it wasn't already on the way home.  Only has one inhabited planet, according to the scans, with two small moons forming a pair of Trojan Points.  I'm not hoping for much of a chance of a story or screenplay, though, unless it's some sort of Shakespearean play: the population is pre-spaceflight, perhaps even more primitive.  I can't even sure there's even humanoid life on the dirtball.

Still, there's the chance they have something worth drinking.  Scotty's hidden stockpile of scotch is pretty much gone, and the Romulan Ale disappeared long ago.  I'll take a chance.

The ship settled into orbit with a spectacular cloud of vented exhaust.  There were far more economical ways of parking, but all of them would have taken weeks of velocity matching, insertion boosts, and other technical crap he wasn't in any mood to deal with.  With any luck, he only had to decelerate one more time when he got home, so wasting some fuel was the least of his concerns.

He made his way down into the Story Detection Room and perused the readouts.  Lots of little blips of short verbal legends showed up all over the place, which was normal for any life form that could formulate more than three word sentences, but what caught his attention was that most of these stories were about the same group of creatures, more or less, and they were all interrelated.... Apparently, these stories dated back thousands of years through the present, with a promising outlook for continuance....

The most hopeful of prospects yet!

He hit the Hollywood HQ communicator. Several hours later, he got a reply.

"...Hurry up, captain, time is money, spit it out." A tired looking face glared back at him from the screen.

"I'm sending you some readouts, I'm gonna need my crew to piece this one together." he said plainly, punching a yellow plastic data card into the console.  The console chugged and whirred, sluggishly relaying the data at 30 baud over the Extremely Low Frequency (ELF) subspace channel.

The face on the screen read the readout as the data chugged through.  "Ok, I'll send what I can afford via the interplanetary transporter. I'll have them meet you on the bridge.  I hope you realize I'm only doing this to see if there is any chance of recovering the money we spend on this mission.  If we can make a graphic novel or even a children's book out of that many tales, there's a chance we won't be forwarding you a bill en lieu of a paycheck."

"I thought I was getting paid monthly?" the captain's arced eyebrows nearly matched that of a time-worn Vulcan.

"Whoever said that?" said the smirking face as the screen went blank.

The Captain hadn't seen his co-workers in years, and he allowed his stride to be slightly faster in the hopes of seeing some familiar faces... rather any faces at all would be welcome at this point.  He paused briefly at his quarters for one of the last two bottles of scotch and polished off half of it before shambling on.

He struggled with the worn-out turbolift door, the guide was pitted, worn to the point the castors had chewed nice, polished voids and valleys as they rambled back and forth.  Was it just last week he had played marbles with the ball bearings that it had spit out all over the carpet on deck 9?  Nope, that was a full two years ago.

After it finally slammed into the wall pocket, he stumbled out onto an empty bridge.

He looked around, and after finding no sign of anyone, he took another swig from the bottle and checked the transporter log.  Indeed, it had been activated, and there had been plenty of time for them to get to the bridge... after all, the transporter had been moved to a room 20 feet down the corridor from the bridge itself.

The captain punched an all-ship comm channel (a button that was quite worn over the years, as he got some amusement to making random sounds into the intercom and listening to it echo back up through the ship.)  "All crew, report to the bridge, please respond." He felt his voice was a little scritchy, having not had a serious public address in years, and he knew he was going to need some more practice to get back into the swing of things.

"Ship's doctor, reporting in" a crisp southern accent sounded behind him.  The doctor was in, and so suddenly, the Captain nearly needed to head to sick bay.

"Gees, you startled me, coming out of nowhere like that!" the Captain exclaimed. "Where's the rest of the crew?"

"Not sure, was just told I needed to show up, so here I am." the Doctor replied. "Let me check..."  He turned to a view-screen and gazed into a hood. "...You're not going to like this, I'm sure..."

"Why, Where are they?  Spock is heading this way, right?" his voice sounded strained, which was understandable for all the years he hadn't been talking to anyone.

"I'm sorry, he's dead, Jim." was the reply.

"Scotty?"

"He's dead, Jim." the doctor repeated.

"Whatabout that yeoman that used to stand about... there... and would hand me the over-sized clipboard... whatshername...? You know, the one that spent 6 out of her 8 off duty hours making new hairstyles to show up in?" the captain started sounding desperate.

"Who, Janice?  She's dead Jim."

"...uh... Nurse Chapel, the one who had that crush on Spock?"

"She's dead too, Jim."

The captain was shocked. So many of his crew were dead, and as far as he could remember, none of it was his fault this time.  "Chekov? Uhura? Sulu?  Don't tell me EVERYONE's dead!"

The doctor looked slightly less grim. "Chekov's on a fishing trip, Uhura couldn't be budgeted, and Sulu's taking a crap and will be a while."

The captain was blown away by this.  He knew how long one of Sulu's bathroom breaks could take. "So it's just you and me, then?"

"Actually, no. I'm sorry, but I'm dead, Jim.  This is just a hologram I had set up before I died so I could have it installed wherever you were, so that, when you finally kick the bucket, I can tell you, 'Your dead, Jim'." And with that, the image of the ship's doctor evaporated.

Alone again, on the bridge of a nearly derelict and antiquated ship, James T. Kirk stared out at the cracked view-screen, looking down on a planet full of life and wonder, and he wondered to himself if there was any chance he'd make it through this encounter without his crew.

Swirling the liquid around in the mostly-empty bottle, he gazed through the brown glass and knew it wouldn't be enough to fill the loss he felt.  No more scapegoats, no one to solve his problems for him, no one to wear a red shirt to hide the wounds intended for him....

He was quickly reminded that he was, indeed, not alone, as the ship's broken life support system began to vent fumes from Sulu's bathroom into the bridge.

To be continued?

Interviewer in a talk show: So I think Im more confused than before I had an explaination of what the scroll of colors does, or rather, doesnt do. Is it something used to navigate the place?

Timmain: No, its a bundle of records of what goes on.

Interviewer: So its like a flight recorder, we can see what happened when something went right or wrong?

Timmain: Only if you were there and already knew what happened, otherwise no, you're SOL.

Interviewer: Sooo.... it... um... makes the palace fly?

Timmain: No, it levitates itself, sort of, you gotta help it along. Then, when it levitates, get this: it spins around. Pretty neat, eh?

Interviewer: Then why did everyone risk their lives trying to bring it back to the Palace in the Shards war?

Timmain: Beats me, it only shows a viewer random storylines that might be from any point in time in any instance of timelines... perhaps not even anything that has relevance to anything you will ever experience, so... yeah, pretty much worthless. Other than causing Elves to obsess over it meaning something until they waste away, its just a pretty thing we picked up on that one planet. Might or might not be a yarn ball of cosmic strings, might just be the punchline to a joke, we never got an answer from the creatures that had it last. It appears they discovered a youtube thread on it and became addicted to the point of not eating, and starved to death.

Interviewer: So, you're saying dump it out the airlock and get on with life?

Timmain: No, Id say put it on Ebay, see how much we can get for the sparkly.

After beating the Trolls, banishing the go-backs, destroying the brightmetal wall, and recovering the Palace, the Elves, the Palace's first stop was the Sun Village.  Unfortunately, they didnt really have all that great of control over the thing (shoot, they STILL dont know for sure what the Scrolls do...)

Unknown to the reader, it landed on an area of the village that contained several living huts.  These werent mentioned by the storyteller as these huts were in the low-income housing area, and the occupants were not considered a big loss to the rest of the community, and the events werent known to anyone on-board, save one.

Ekuar didnt say anything, as there wasnt much to be said, but he was able to send his powers down through the floor and give them a decent burial, at least. Much like the doggy-doo he dealt with at another time...

In all, this adds another 53 casualties to the life cost of reclaiming the Palace.

They are especially dangerous as they only exist by referring to themselves that they do, or that they exist at some point in some reality, so they think that means they therefore must have to exist at all points in all realities, when in reality they simply imagined themselves (or each other, the scroll is sketchy on this(ese) point(s)) in a dream they had and couldint tell the difference between the dreamworld and the real world, proving they are quite insane.

This insanity of omniscient and impotent floating stone could mean anything or nothing, but as the scrolls are too busy reading each other (only the parts they have already experienced, by the way o.O), this might result in little of nothing, or could erase the readers of EQ from existence at any moment, from any moment in time.

Dont worry, though, I have heard the Sudden Massive Existence Failure is actually quite painless, since after all, if you never existed, you dont have nerves to feel pain with anyway, so you cant feel the act of ceasing to exist.
