Eight-eights of moons have passed since Strongow became chief, his mount, Skywise-sans-elfblood, has gotten old. Being that he is completely wolf, it would soon be time for Strongbow to find a new wolf friend. But for now, Skywise is still around.

Timmain eventually shows up, in wolf form, still completely absorbed in the Now herself, and asserts herself as leader of the wolf pack. Upon seeing Skywise, she notes there is something about him, something she felt she needed to do with this wolf.... Sensing a challenge, Skywise went on defense, and a fight breaks out. At the end of it all, Strongbow has a new mount AND a new pelt to keep him warm for winter... The pack feasted well that day, and hunting was good for the weeks to come for the wolfriders.

The pelt later became part of Strongbow's collection of sleeping furs for a time, until the hair fell out and the bald hide was barely useful to patch foot coverings for the tribe. Skywise ultimately became one who was walked on by everyone, so it is a matter of opinion as to whether he could be considered to have carried them, or if he was beneath them, but such things are not considered to those who live fulling in the Now of Wolfthought...

There wefe only two pairs of SkyWise Pumps, and both were bought by Windkin.. They never wore out... Not because of any quality of the hide they were made of but because he never walks anywhere... Unless he's hit the ol Maggoty Brew. Thats why theres scuffs on the toes...

Two series after Final Quest, we get Legal Quest...

Things start off with Winnie, using Rayak as her mouthpiece, sues the trolls to go after Smelt's estate for back child support with interest. The trolls obliged, however they noted that such a lien on his estate would not likely be paid, seeings as the estste was absorbed after no next of kin claimed it for 6000 years, and since taxes werent paid, the court (read King) took control and reallocated it. Further, as she was the cause of death she was put on trial for murder, which wouldnt be so bad if she had been a troll but the laws of the underground are different for trolls and non-trolls. They sentanced her to death, but as she was aready dead it was changed to time served, but as Rayak was her lawyer and mental companion he was considered aiding and abetting, since he knew what she had done but disnt bring her in, so he was sentanced to work as the Rock Shapers were, with the same repercussions should he refuse...

And that was just the first two and a half issues....

Civil war breaks out among the Elves!

After the fur has flown and memories have been erased, we find out, three issues later, the fight stemmed from a disagreement over who got the den in the Father Tree with Cutter's skull, starimg out and grinning from the wall...


EDIT

This begs the question, though: which other appendages of the former chief are in who's rooms, and why? The skull was a large part of the above mentioned civil war, as it was fought over by old friends, old lovers, and old enemies alike, for various reasons...

One might wonder if Strongbow traded dens with Kahvi after a sleepless night with Cutter's finger poking him in the back from out of the floor, or Pike vieing for the den with his feet sticking out of the wall to hang his Skywise brand shoes on...
