| Fire ... Spider ... resentful ... Vision ... spinning Someone might make a limerick for it? The Shaman is an arsonist ... Winnowill was even shown on a cover in a spiderweb formed by her tresses ... Resentfulness, your name is Kureel ... Two-Edge has a vision or two ... or three or ... and Storm told me Guttlecraw's head was spinning on the spear ^^ And they all were killed ... YUP, all of them. Two-Edge was supposed to be killed in SaBM! ___________________________________________________ Indem du etwas tust, das dir oder jemand anderem gefällt, erschaffst du bereits einen Wert.

| The shaman was an arsonist. He'd spin a tale and shake his fist! Resentful of the neighbor elves, he knew they wouldn't torch themselves. He claimed a vision made him do it, but he was thrilled to get down to it. Yet his fate was a spider web; he was the one to end up dead.
Skewered quick, and charred like toast... Who'd guess that Karma burns the most?

| Winnowil was like a spider whose anger just wriggled and tiggled inside her. She choked on resentment, like eating a horse. It set her stomach to spinning, of course. Her vision included the end of the planet... But she'll never see it-- she lost her head, dammit!

| Old Two Edge sure had a vision or two. But they never did tell him just quite what to do. He just dreamed about spiders, and fire and rage, while he sat and spun rhymes in his own little cage.
Guttlecraw was pretty raw His head was on a stake His vision spinning Elves were winning He'd made a mistake Resentment built and yet no guilt had crossed his regal brow Though if it had there wasn't much to do about it now
His last thought before he retired Was that his guards should all be fired.

I tried to write it from Two-Edge's point of view (before the whole Elf/Troll War even came into being... I imagine he was in a pretty dark place until he came up with the plan, which come to think of it was a pretty far fetched plan - sticking that key in Bearclaw's hilt... waiting for SOMEONE to eventually come across it... that's one hell of a patient half-elf-troll...) ___________________________________________________ Signature image by Embala. <3

| Your vision is dark It's message quite stark The visuals creepy and scary with it's talk about spiders and flaming desires and trolls that are bitter and hairy!
You're right! Two Edge had to be completely insane but utterly patient to craft that scheme. Not to mention how long it would have taken him to carve out those tunnels, those statues, that hall and create all that armor and weaponry. I think you captured it well.

| Those are some brilliant limmericks! But, euhm... Tymber; would it be possible to post yours with regular text? It's kinda hard to read with that font on that background. ___________________________________________________ "When you do what you love best, you shine where you love."Come play the Who Am I game! | |

Mother wore a beautiful mask; But it was just a disguise. She had a vision, a purpose, a task; All built upon lies. She wove her web, each silken string, Took control and devoured everything. She was a spider, spinning her web of deceit, She had it all, but still felt incomplete. She found my father, and she felt an unusual desire, And I was born through passionate flames and fire. But what was once beautiful, became resentful, She fed upon my father, and tortured my mind Leaving only broken pieces behind. ___________________________________________________ Signature image by Embala. <3

| OMG ... Lunakat! *claps* Me ... WE got a whole basket of limeriks out of this ... WELL filled! You took darkest moments ... grim fate (oh ... how they deserved it!) and made it a fun read. Those mind pictures you're drawing ar hilarious! Shaman got toasted ... Winnowill lost her head, ... DAMMIT and Guttlecraw sure wanted to fire his guards ... his style! I like that I can feel some compassion in Two-Edge's rhyme. *still chuckles* Talking of a bell ringing ... was it your limerick about "Kureel rymes with eel", Lunakat? Your limerick style comment on Tymber's contribution is the cherry on the cake! *bows* The "promised" second banner - dark stories (turned into fun) and my own resentful thoughts made it easy to illustrate this dark side! Now I hope someone will prove that the light side can be shown with those elements as well. ___________________________________________________ Indem du etwas tust, das dir oder jemand anderem gefällt, erschaffst du bereits einen Wert.

| This picture is best chosen for your poem, Tymber!
Winnowill, beautiful and shiny, even as a sark shadow. The beautiful mask hiding the web of lies, her controlling nature ... it illustrates the words going right with it.
Smelt, the shadow of anTroll, hardly known to the reader. Even in the poem he's pictured a tool more than as an individual.
Two-Edge at last ... lost. There was not much left of that pitiful child of two worlds at this point. Your words tell - the decreasing lines seem to prove.
One plea, Tymber - can you shrink the picture to half of its original size? Preferably with an embedded link to the full sized illustration to make the well chosen font shine? The way it's now it makes normal text almost unreadable ... a seemingly endless line half hidden on smaller screens. ___________________________________________________ Indem du etwas tust, das dir oder jemand anderem gefällt, erschaffst du bereits einen Wert.

| Holy cow, so many minds at work, spinning away poetic visions like wildfire!
So many poems this time around! I wish I had that gift, but I am glad I get to enjoy what others can do!
For my part, I feel a little weak this month. I'll see if I can come up with something for Grubfinder to do, but for now this is what popped out on the keyboard:
The spider wove her way around the branch, linking each strand in a highly precise geometrical pattern whose sole purpose was to be destroyed by prey meeting their doom. As the web neared its completion, the strands reflected an orange glow here and there, a mild contrast with the browns, dusty greens, and medium grays of a forest struggling to survive a summer drought.
Passing creatures below created a breeze, sending her spinning while she hung by a thread. The panting of wolves in time with the weak thud of their feet had broken the stillness and sent a variety of flying insects hurdling though the air in all directions. Three mosquitoes and a moth quickly found their paths interrupted abruptly by the spider’s web, ever becoming more entangled the more they struggled. The spider quickly dealt with the insects, wrapping them for later and set about repairing the damage done.
Spiders are crafty creatures: finding good locations to create their webs, in the path of many unsuspecting bugs, near places bugs would continue to be for some time. It could be said that even so small of a creature might have vision to foretell such things. To be born into the world with the ability to know what dark place harbored more than just one chance flying ant, termite, flea, tick, or other tasty morsel, at distances that might be hundreds or thousands of body-lengths away… this was an art of foresight and cunning for such a tiny creature, placing that strand just so, and knowing without resentment that if that strand did its job, it would need replaced time and time again.
But even with such careful work creating deadly art, this spider could not know that that glow reflected in her web was her own doom as a deadly web of another kind grew to attempt to ensnare other victims. A web of fire that was not so well thought out, its weaver bent solely on destruction of its prey with little planning or forethought, that, in the end, ensnared its own creators and everything else around it, but failed to trap those very wolves that had run under the spider moments before, nor their riders, who found their own path out of the crudely produced trap.
But who is to say that their struggle to get out of this trap did not ensnare them more completely in the web of another?

| *sigh of relief* For a moment I thought the first version with the interesting font is gone! It works so well with the background picture and the written word - it adds to the vibe. The revised version works well for me in the thread post ... and the extra text version is helpful, too. I absolutely love that you have used this broken "rearranged" font for the title, Tymber! It's this extra piece of illustration ... I also like to play with. You took my little challenge and made a happy story! - Tymber wrote:

( there's a k missing in becon..?)And it goes with an illustration again ... well edited. Firewing is of vibrant red indeed! Take a look at the coding I've used for the quote. It's slightly laborious but a neat trick to solve problems with BIG pictures.Always write what comes to mind, Hammer ... especially when it great like that! An amazing view on the microcosm. This kind of describtion needs a lot of observation, awareness and love for nature. And you made it a piece of EQ. You've connected the tiny spider to a distictive moment. You compared the wisdom of nature to the stupidity of misleaded human actions. You've connected the microcosm of the spider weg to the big picture of EQ. And ... you made me feel sorry for the spider. A presiously woven snippet. ___________________________________________________ Indem du etwas tust, das dir oder jemand anderem gefällt, erschaffst du bereits einen Wert.

Passion burns desire fire! Caught inside a spider’s snare.
False vision made your head go spinning; a resentful marriage never works.

| Hm... short. And cryptic. Redhead at her best! ^^ I'm not sure what it is about. There are ideas - one ... or two or three. But mainlly the feeling that I miss something. Speaking of Spider and marriage I've decided to go for the most obvious suspects ... ___________________________________________________ Indem du etwas tust, das dir oder jemand anderem gefällt, erschaffst du bereits einen Wert.

I thought so too. Two-Edge's font, if I remember correctly, was like the Preserver's - it was different than the regular text in the Original Quest. (Or maybe I am misremembering?) And I thought a "fancy" font fit his telling. - Embala wrote:

Yeah, didn't even mentally have a place for any sort of time line. But when I think happy and "webs" - I think Preserver, because they're so blissfully joyful. - Embala wrote:

Y'know, I was gonna peg that as Winnowill and Rayek. The first part sounds like their meeting at Blue Mountain and the second part sounds like everything after the Second Palace War.
