Well, I'm the one who'd "have" to write all the poems.

And looks like I'm a bit quicker this time.

New love found,
when old love lost.
Slowly growing over the years
Like a steady gentle flame.
Together they journeyed deep underground,
to unlock a secret so great.

Lovely poem, Redhead!
I agreed with Embala. Treestump and Clearbrook are a couple of wise elders... they lost much but found new love...and piece... TOGETHER. I always loved this couple as they are balancing out each other.

Your metaphor of a 'gentle flame'... fantastic! It suits them much. And you describe and summarize their story in just a few words.

They were already very 'wise' when they came together, but as a couple they seem to grow even more.

Looks like I'm on a roll now!

in unusual way.

set whole tribe free.

Not a lifetime, just a Recognition - and it's unforeseen consequences - with the birth that logically would follow.

How about Humans ... or a certain regal couple for a change?

I'm sure the "only star home" will follow anyway ... ^^

I have not noticed a poem about a Human couple ... couldn't find any when skimming again tonight. I apologize for bein so inattentive.

My "Lovers" Series seem to have hit a hiatus.
Here's a story instead.

Birth

"You can't be serious!"

"I am!" Brill answered adamantly, "I want my daughter - mine and Sunstream's daughter - to be born in absolute freedom."

"But..." Krill stammered hesitantly, "The danger..."

"We'll face that when, and if it comes. My decision is final."

And with those words Brill, ignoring the protests of her fellow tribesmates, jumped into the ocean and disappeared out of sight.

The Wavedancers waited anxiously along with their guests, anxious to welcome into their midsts one whose birth had been long awaited, one whose conception had meant the Wavedancers' long years of fearfulness was finally coming to an end. None waited more anxiously than Snakeskin; he looked over the water, feeling the heavy burden of the safety of his tribe weigh down on his shoulders.

"I understand your worry." Leetah said gently, putting a hand on his scaly arms. "But you can't keep everyone away from danger forever, you just have to trust that Sunstream and Brill are strong enough to face whatever dangers might be out there."

"I know." Snakeskin replied with a sigh and a smile, "Still I couldn't help but giving Sunstream a little extra, just in case..."

Leetah didn't answer, she simply smiled slyly, and in the same moment young Puffer's shouting alerted everyone that Sunstream and Brill with finally back with their precious baby girl.

"Mother, Snakeskin, Skimback." Sunstream asked as soon as the exhitement and clamour had died down just a little, "Why did you..." He trailed off, not sure how to phrase the question properly, yet it seemed to be understood quite fine regardless.

"Brill was my lovemate for a very long time, and I still love her very much. However, more than that, I know the pain of losing a pip; I wouldn't want that on anyone."

"I'm the chief. It's my job to make sure everyone is safe."

"You're my son. You may be far too big for me to cuddle, but that doesn't mean I can't still do whatever it takes to keep you safe. Yet we couldn't have done it if not for the power and will to protect that's always been surging through your veins."

A hidden moment ... worth to be shared. So loving ... and lovable.

Just One

"How many?" Cutter sat up with such a jolt, a wild look in his - still not-quite-awake eyes, causing Leetah to fear that the madness had once again taken its hold on her beloved Tam. "How many, Leetah?" He kept mumbling, "How many are there?"

"How many... what?" She asked, sitting up and turning around so she was facing him.

"How many...?" He asked again, this time gesturing towards her - still flat - belly.

Then Leetah understood. Her Tam, her beloved Tam, who had faced so many dangers and come face-to-face with death on more occassions than she wanted to remember, had been thrown into near-panick at the thought of something so simple.

"Just one." She said, smiling, "just one, this time."

Cutter shook his head a couple of time, as if to shake the last bit of sleep away, before lying back down, pulling Leetah down for a tight embrace.

"That's a relief..."

"Was the thought of raising another pair of twins really that terrible?" Leetah asked michievously, propping herself up against his chest, "Suntop and Ember weren't that bad."

"You have to admit they could be a handful..."

"True, but we had plenty of help, didn't we? We'll have plenty of help with this one too."

"I suppose you're right. And I guess just having one cub doesn't guarantee things will be easy for you."

They both chuckled lightly, as they remembered the challenges poor Strongbow and Moonshade had faced while raising their youngest.

And look! I actually managed to finish one of my poems!

Chance encounter,
brother's doing?
A choice to stay,
for love of green things.
Found their home amongst the Hidden,
love will carry her through the losses.

I'm on a roll. Two for the prize of one.

Eyes met eyes;
but timing wrong,
yet through it all
their love is strong.
A choice was made
to wait a while.

Unlocked

”Nightfall!” Redlance ran up to his lifemate, joy and exitement written all over his face, grapped her by the waist, and spun her around. ”I can do it.”

”You can do what?” She asked, looking into his beautiful eyes, happy that he had recovered fully from his gruesome injures – and perhaps secretly hoping that something else would happen.

Redlance didn’t answer, he simply extended his hand towards one of the desert shrubs growing around the Sun Village, and to Nightfall’s amazement it started moving. He had finally done it! Her Redlance had finally unlocked the power which had been growing inside him all along. It was funny, really, he’d spend his entire life so far living surrounded by trees, but unable to unlock his powers, but now – living in a place with no trees, and only the smallest of plants – he had finally managed.

”Come on!” He grapped her by the hand, and started dragging her along.

”Where are we going?”

”I got a seed from Pike, I’m going to have a bit of fun with Minyah.”

(So, for this story I did things a bit differently. I basically wrote a silly story, but omitted the names, then I selected names as very random. So... this doesn't make a whole lot of sense...)

A Story – or ”How the Elves Discovered Singing (Badly) in the Shower”

Once upon a time and were walking through the forest, when they suddenly heard a strange noise. Following the source of the noise they found standing under a waterfall and sing, if it could be called that.

”What are you doing?” Asked bemused.

”I’ve been spying on the humans,” explained, stepping out of the waterfall, ”they have these weird contraptions with water coming out of them, which they use to get clean. And when they use them they often sing.”

”Sing?” Laughed

”It has to sound like that.” explained, ”I think it might be their tradition.”
and stood for a few moments, marveling at the weirdness of the humans.
, , suddenly sent, caught a huge stag. We’re eating!

Another "Lovers' Song"

Is this true love?
Perhaps,
maybe.
She always liked the blondes.
When pauper wins the princess;
truly a fairytale.

*chuckles* I know!

... but I'm afraid it was not true love. sixteen years later she eyes Cutlet!

Well… it's possible to have more than one true love...
