The Valentine owl has something magical. Especiallly the last one; it looks like he can burst out of it any moment, and do magic, like Jareth from Labyrinth.

This "magic" was striking me too, Sifra. I think it's the mysterious shine of the labradorite stone working in the heart. I've managed to keep it "on the surface" and it even enhances the element of movement in the photo.
In the pendant the fog seems to thicken into the shape of the owl - the owl comes out of nowhere.

And - it might be the variation of the regular artifice that does the trick. Usually those "appliqued" collages are thre-layered: the background, the motive and a transparant copy of the background on top of the motive. It "melts" the motive into the background.
In case of this owl I've weakend this third layer above the owl face to non-existance. It makes the eyes and face come out more - actually bursting out. ^^ Thank you for the compliment, Sifra! Very Happy
