Hey, they gave me the kickstart with the Lovemates Calendar! "What's said is said" (Jareth from Labyrinth)  I just went ahead and started a fan base where there wasn't one... kept the expectations high writing about 99,9% of my posts about Sunstream and Brill... wrote fanfics and drew (crappy) fanart... oh and sent fan-mails too wondering when they would meet or even just *bumping* the Calendar. All to politely remind the Pinis that... I was still waiting for my due Sunstream and Brill fix! :skywise wink:

So... I'm glad and honored to have contributed in whatever little way (catering? Bridal shower? Sunstream's flowers?) to make it happen!    

Now... to actually have S&B shippers take over the world...

A funny episode that I don't remember sharing... when I ran the Stormsong Fanlisting back back back then, my application (you had to apply requesting approval for a fanlisting before you started building one) was denied. Because, Stormsong wasn't a character who had really appeared in the comics, but was only mentioned.

Now... being an HP buff among other things, I happened to notice that there was a fanlisting for Yaxley the Death Eater (that was pre-Deathly Hallows), so I went ahead and sent a mail where I explained just *what* we knew of Stormsong (that he was dead through no fault of a chief's decision, that he had a brother and was likely quite spirited like him, that he had a Recognized mate who loved and mourned him and a son who knew very little about him always asking his uncle to tell him "stories" of daddy, but who was also said to take after him a lot personality-wise)... and how all that we knew of Yaxley was that he was a Death Eater, agemate of Snape & co, daddy went to school with Voldemort and that if Yaxley could have a fanlisting based on the little that was known of them so could Stormsong because nothing said that more couldn't be found out in future installments--

BAM. Application approved!

Shade and sweet water... or, as I'd have rather have it, gentle currents to you, my tribemates!  

My name is Christina, and as you should be able to guess, I'm a huge fan of the WaveDancers - both the Original WaveDancers created by BMP and published by Warp Graphics, and the New WaveDancers featured in Elfquest canon. I fell in love with these water-dwellers a long time ago and have been devoted to them ever since... ... with a "special" predilection for the two fantastic couples in the name banner above.

Long-terms elf-friends from the Scroll will tell you, in fact, that I'm known as the most die-hard, head-over-heel obsessed Sunstream and Brill 'shipper in all Elfquest fandom. To use a commonplace adage, I 'shipped Sunstream and Brill before they became mainstream and "The Discovery" came out... all the way back since 1999, when the "Lovemates" Calendar was released and the December plate made my heart soar.

Even before that my beloved Brill had claimed the topmost place in my personal list of favorite Elfquest characters; she wasn't only my favorite WaveDancer, but my all-time favorite Elfquest elf. Her love story with Sunstream was something I dreamed about, wrote about, talked about, something I could never tire of sketching and theorizing, the foodstuff of my thoughts. I waited eagerly to see them meet and fall in love, looked forward to it, never lost hope image that it'd someday happen. And what a joy when "The Discovery" came out!

To date, it is my favorite Elfquest story... the one that makes me laugh, cry and cheer the most... the one that rings imagetruest to my heart. Now don't get me wrong, I loved the Original Quest and the Wolfriders as much as anyone else - but my love for these two characters is just so strong, that to finally have them brought in the spotlight - to have an entire story dedicated to their love (and in such a beautiful way, both artistically and story-wise) is the fulfillment of many a dream. There'll imagenever be enough Brill and Sunstream for me, but "The Discovery" certainly has all that I look for in an Elfquest tale.

I can't even begin to explain why I love the so much - maybe the way they're just absolutely perfect for each other, or how long-awaited and deserved imagetheir happiness (especially Brill's) truly was... maybe because they're just that precious. Whenever I flip through the pages of "The Discovery" I'm swept away by the intensity of their feeling, the desperate need they both feel for someone to truly understand them... they're both loners, fundamentally, and I think that's what contributed to draw them together.

Brill tends to feel things deeper than most elves do - and Sunstream is right up there himself, admired and looked up by many... yet at time experiencing a loneliness that only his beloved lifemate can comprehend and fill - with all the sheer strength and intensity of her love for him. *sighs*
Ahem... sorry... got myself carried away...

The other couple now, you might be less familiar with; Haze (male) and Farbright (female) were two of the first WaveDancers to be ever killed by mankind. Many fans, myself included, suspect that they are in fact, the parents of Brill and Krill (called "offsprings of tragedy" in "A WaveDancers Gallery"). After Sunstream and Brill, they are my favorite Elfquest couple, and runners-up of my favorite WaveDancers as well.   It's kind of funny because we really only see them in a flashback - two panels, three if you count the one redrawn by Wendy in "The Discovery" - but even based on just that little, on the love between them and the way they're still remembered by their tribe, I was swept off my feet by this lovely couple of WaveDancers elders. (And besides - how could I not love the parents of my Brill?    ) Occasionally I've tried to glimpse the likeness of them in many flashbacks of the "WaveDancers" story arc, I like to think with some success.

To say nothing of the wonder these two fabulous pairings made possible...

Back in the old times, I owned several EQ-themed sites... all of which are now swept under the dust of time, lost accounts and broken backups. Nothing says I might not run another, though... and that's all I'm going to say about it for now! Shhh... time will tell! For now, I content myself with bringing more WaveDancers in the life of our new Holt, exploring their backstory for hidden gems and unsought connections, and keeping WaveDancer love very much alive in EQ fandom. In recent days I have devoted my time and efforts to two projects; a list of nameless WaveDancers featured in various flashbacks, whom I try to associate with names or faces, and a comprehensive fan-made timeline/births order of the events in the "WaveDancers" story arc, starting with the birth of Surge all the way down to the most recent chapters of the "Final Quest" - and working to make all the ends meet even when they might seem to conflict. While it's only a fan project and based for the most part on assumptions, I'm very proud of the result thus far!

But there's even more in store... The WaveDancers stories are a treasure trove of hidden gems that I am all too happy to dig out and share with you, holtmates dear.
