Given Names vs. Inborn Names Empty
PostSubject: Given Names vs. Inborn Names   Given Names vs. Inborn Names EmptyFri Jul 10, 2020 3:05 am

I feel like I read a thread about this as a wee nipper back in the 2000s (...oh my god that was half my life ago...), but I didn't see anything similar on this new haven so here we are.

I know Wolfriders are born with soulnames, something present either at conception or at some point during gestation. A tribe name is given later. Now, my question is whether or not elves from other tribes have their names inborn in them, or are their names are chosen by their families?

Like I remember that one story where Leetah was healing in utero, and that she had her apt name prior to birth...but did Toorah name her for her gift, or did Leetah send her name to her mother?

At some point Cutter said about their Recognition: "I only found Leetah" or something along the lines. If Leetah was just a given name ... why could Cutter find anything at all?

I prefer to believe that the elf names are inborn and parents' choice is - intentionally of subcontiously - the "true" name.

I might doubt about the Go-Backs ... but then - Go-Back names always sounded like soulnames for me.

I see it the same way. and I think as same do the Go-Backs. They pretend to be less elf and more warrior, but they show again and again, that they can be very elfy , grin.
