| "Cross her heart" by Sarah Pinbourough. I liked it very much. I also tried to read Bram Stokers Dracula but Maybe I'll try again later. I need easy books right now. ___________________________________________________ | |

| My favourite journalist Rhik Samadder is back at The Guardian with a new series:
https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2021/aug/02/rhik-samadder-tries-mindful-painting-it-dawns-on-me-that-im-a-very-talented-artist
Had a good laugh reading - still, his masterpiece is unsurpassed:

| The Snow was Clean by Hans Olav Lahum. Crime is usually not my cup of tea, especially not those focused on police pfficers. But it is interesting to read about this guy navigating the political issues of his time. ___________________________________________________ Thanks to Embala for the lovely banner! | That sounds very interesting!
I am trying (again) to get through the Goldfinch by Donna Tart. It is a nicely written book, and I love how horrible all the characters are, but it feels like it's going nowhere and it's kind of depressing. ___________________________________________________

| I put away the Goldfinch after five pages. I am halfway by now, and it seems I'm gonna be stuck there for a while. I picked up Dune again. I've already read it five times, but it's been a while and I just watched the movie so I had to... ___________________________________________________ | |

| The Coldest Touch by Isabel Sterling. Highschool paranormal romance that is gay. Honestly I am a little over highschool novels, but this caught my eye. It´s mainly about destiny and how to stay yourself and how to have agency, if that is possible in this soceity. ___________________________________________________ Thanks to Embala for the lovely banner! I never tire of re-re-re-..-reading.. ..the Dune books, by Frank Herbert. Just like Elfquest, yes.. ..but for very different reasons. ___________________________________________________ | |

| Jay another Dune fan! Have you read all of the books? I think I've not read some of the BH and KA ones, but I'm not even sure. I totally agree with the Disney thing. ___________________________________________________ | |

All the books by Frank Herbert, yep, and many times. Frank Herbert intended the readers to think. He succeeded. His son intended to make money. He succeeded. No problem with that, here. ___________________________________________________

| That is very true. The books by Brian and Kevin were just too different from Franks books. I can recommend the Santaroga Barrier and also Frank wrote a book about a submarine that had religious themes, that was also very good. ___________________________________________________ | |

| Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan. Found it by accident on allbok, an e-book service connected to the libraries, genious! Finding it highly entertaining. ___________________________________________________ Thanks to Embala for the lovely banner! The quote belongs to Scooter. | |

| I tried reading some Karin Slaughter books. I found two in mini libraries, and both of them had dead babies in them so I put them away again. Does this author enjoy writing about this subject? I gave up on thrillers for now. I'm reading "Red Mars," sci-fi. Hopefully it's less triggering. ___________________________________________________ | |

| Legends and Lattes. I knew I would like it, but boy am I enjoying myself reading this one. I bought it over the summer and it's proving to be the perfect November read to jump into after the thrillers I read in October. Low stakes books are perfect for me right now. Especially while I write my own high stakes fiction. ___________________________________________________ | |

| Ohh, I loved Legends and Lattes! I'm reading a novel in Finnish, the title of which could be translated as "The Neon City, Book three, The Bone Carnival". It's a horror/urban fantasy story, quite interesting, although it's been a while since I read books 1 and 2, so I don't remember all the characters that well. ___________________________________________________ | |
