Build a "Grab Bag" for the month...

Well, if done had become an element it would've been pretty easy to incorporate. Just write the piece and in the end simply write:

Dunno... can't really think of anything. Might if I do.

It goes without saying that an inverted trap could be considered a love interest in a story about a frightful event... but did I miss anything?

Three is still a good amount of elements. I'd say three is the minimum.

Before we open it up to secondary suggestions to those who already suggested.

Like if there was only one or two elements suggested; then I'd say open it to those who already suggested to add another.

But three is still a solid number.

Id say it was an odd number.

True! I always think writers, because to me that's MUCH easier. You artisty type people devote a lot of time into the art.

Had a talk with Embala the other day about a thought: how about an annual "grab bag" challenge?

The thought is, at a yet to be determined point in the year, an "Annual Grab Bag" thread would be opened with a list, by month, of all of the elements given for that year. A writer, artist, or otherwise would each select a single element from each month to make their work piece from. Other than the difference in source and quantity of elements (up to 12, depending on the year's participation in GBs), all rules and whatnot would be the same as a monthly.

My thought is not to make a huge challenge for everyone but to have it be a toolbox of inspiration, with each person able to choose their own twelve favorite elements from the year from a list that could be well over 50, and just see what comes out of it.

Further, I propose that the first annual GB does not have to coincide with the first GB of the site (though it could): it can be any convienient time of the year for the first one. The only preference so far is that it isnt during the holidays: Embala would not be able to participate during the event calender. Im going to also assume that easter time is also on the "preferred not at this time" list.

The months I've figured were possibilities were:
January (beginning of the year, after advent, before Easter season)
November (NaNoWriMo time, not sure if this coincides with advent prep time though)
First grab bag for the site month (have to look it up. Gives a full 12 months for the first one).

Any thoughts? Anyone want to do this?

I'd be more than happy to accept this kind of challenge for writing!

And we could just do it every January - even though this year (Jan 2016), obviously, we wouldn't have 12 elements, we'd just use the ones that are already on the forum, to begin this - which might be good, so it's not so overwhelming of a challenge right off the bat. Then by the next year (Jan 2017), we'd actually have 12 elements.

I don't know how well I can manage up to 11 Elements - but there's always the exeption rule for picture artists: One element will do too.

With a yearly grab bag challange we will have a maximum of 11 elements - 11 monthly grab-bag lists to choose from and then the yearly grab bag. The first would be May 2017 for full circle.
Why not January for a start ... eight chosen elements are a lot already. I'm ready for a try.
And in case it turns out another month would be better ... hey, we can change it any! We make the rules - we altogether.

with 12 elements as an aim - the Yearly Grab Bag Challenge would move ... each year for a month:
- Janury 2016 (for a start)
- Feruary 2017
- March 2018 ... and so on ^^
