It just occured to me ... is he really dead this time?

Sure - Mrs. Pini had told that "a long lasting character will find his end" (something along this line) in that issue. And this one was obviously Door. No one else died.

Yet a comment in the FQ#21 thread made me speculate. There is no body! He disappeared - similar to Moonshade's invisibility trick. What If - Ekolin transformed into a Conehead and desintegrated ... but like Moonshade he can reintegrate?

A What-If ... but at the moment I like it better than the simple solution. ^^

I think he's "dead" in the sense that he doesn't have a (physical) body anymore, but "alive" in the sense all elf-spirits are.
He simply chose not to have a physical form.
