I remember my confusion when I noticed for the First time that Tyleet's soulname in the German translation was different than in the original issue. Then I figured WHY they changed it ...

Remember Scouter's line? "SOHN...! You...?! My Lifemate?!!"
I realized that SOHN means "son" in German. Imagine Scouter would have suddenly called Tyleet his son ... and his "son" his lifemate. Shocked

The publisher probably considered it TOO puzzling for readers who are new to EQ and less familiar with the Recognition and soul names.

So they decided on another, similar soulname for the German translation ... SON. Didn't help much for ME - I've wondered for years why for the High Ones' sake Wendy had chosen a soulname that makes it sound like Scouter calls Tyleet his "son" in English. Rolling Eyes

Confusing? Like hell ... didn't understand it before I could get my hands on the English originals.

In Danish Tyleet has been translated into Tylla, completely ignoring the fact that the leet part actually has a rather important meaning…

Good afternoon, Elders and Cubs!

I guess this shows how much of ElfQuest I need to work on delving into; Redlance was the Elf who strayed alone from the Holt and that the humans were going to sacrifice to Gotara in the first issue of the original run of ElfQuest, but fortunately was rescued by Cutter's party, am I remembering right?

The name stuck in my mind as one of the first Elf names I remember seeing when I read that page. It's sometimes hard to get it into my head how long a Elf can live compared to a human of Abode. Thank you kindly for posting back about Redlance, in any case; I'm happy he fathered such a positive cub as Tyleet! Heh, thinking of Pike's song about her, 'Try saying no to her!' I think Hidden Years #3, the one involving Little Patch and his Dam Tyleet, is certainly my favourite single EQ book.
