I never understood why they chose to live alone for so many years, instead of just joining Nonna's tribe. Sure, the in-laws can be a bit flakey, but what are you going to do if you get sick or hurt, and your wife can't help you?

I think they'd wanted to join Adar's tribe from the moment they married, but of course the Bone Woman put a stop to that and then the thought of going all the way back to Nonna's tribe was just too much.

There might have been a tradition that the wife follows the husband - and not the otherway long. Wink

Traditions are hard to overcome at times - not so easiy to overcome in mind as we like to think.

It can be much harder for a man to get accepted in another tribe than the other way round.
And then the questions: Why don't you stay with your husband's tribe as it should be? And the thoughts: Is something wrong with him? Or even ... with her?

Just because both are "primitive tribes" in our eyes does not mean they had something in common in culture and religion. People did not move between different tribes and cultures so easily in the early days. Heck - it's not even easy nowadays!
