I just wanted to wish everyone a happy and blessed autumnal equinox! Pumpkin

Today day and night have an equal length and astronomically the season of leaf fall and death sleep (fall/autumn) beginns.

Oh, I love fall, simply for the fact it starts getting cooler. We got sprinkles here in the valley on the first day of fall. However, in the mountains we got a dusting of this.

I like September and October with the golden leaves. But I'm a little bit like Skywise on this: I can't stand when everything dies even when I know green will be back in spring (late spring is my favorite season). November is the worst... No leaves, mostly no snow, it gets darker and darker... But at the moment its wonderful here: mild temperatures, it's sunny, the leaves start to turn...

I love autumn so much, I even like November. Most people hate the month, it is associated with death and dying, but what is death anyway? Without death there couldn't be a renewal.

The Hour Before Sunrise: Autumn

Thick fog greets you the moment you step outside the door of your cosy home. You pull up your collar and go for a walk. Both hands buried deep within the pockets of your coat you feel comfortable enough.
Faintest daylight shimmers through the misty air, filled with the smell of damp foliage and the intense smoke of coal fires. The trees are not all bare yet, and dewdrops adorn abandoned spiderwebs like glittering pearls. The sun slowly rises, as does the fog. A surreal light shines through the mist, undecided whether to stay blue-grey or to take on a yellowish hue. The quietness is unsurpassed right now, the foggy blanket muffling even the barking of the dogs in the neighbourhood. The very world seems asleep.
No sounds, save those of your feet on wet paths, your cautious breathing and another sleepless bird squawking, "Too early yet!"
Across the bare, shadowy fields and glistening meadows you spot the farmhouse, and the warm light shining from a window tells you the farmer who must have been up for hours is having breakfast now. You lift your nose in a bold attempt to smell the coffee. Reminded of the cosy warmth of your own home, you reluctantly decide to make your way back. As you turn in your path the sun breaks through the fog and her splendour gildens the air, the clouds and the mist of this cold November morning.

Take a deep breath: Life goes on.

I've just read your praise of Automn again, Stormcatcher ... and again. When you've posted it I've thought it is from a book, from a poem of some kind ... Embarassed

... I should have remembered that you always give credit in case is not your own.

Your words are so beautiful. You bring this November morning to life ... describe it with all your senses. Seeing, feeling, hearing, smelling, almost tasting it. You draw the colors with words. You make me see the dew diamonds in a siderweb jewel. You make me hear the quietness. And you capture the hints of life. The hope. the new beginning.

You've taken me with you on this walk. It was wonderful. Thank you, my friend.
