This is a broad category. It includes books that have been translated into many languages, such as Tintin and the Dargaud titles, and magazines like the Beano.

Some titles I used to quite like are Tintin, Asterix, and Yoko Tsuno.
A couple of Danis ones - which might not have been translated - are Valhalla, and Nofret.

The book-bound "graphic novels of classic European comics are hard to find in actual stores, with the exception of Tintin. I was able to find some Asterix and Lucky Luke comics at a local comic store.

Asterix movies don't seem to make it to cinema release here, even when they are available in English.

I love European comics! My favorites are Asterix, Les Tunique Blues (Blauwbloezen in dutch), Sambre, Yoko Tsuno, Jeremiah, Valerian (Ravian in dutch), Philemon... Valhalla is hard to find in the Netherlands but I managed to buy all the issues that are translated. I love them! I love norse mythology and they are so funny!

"Asterix" movies are either animated or live-action. Same with Tintin movies. So far there has only been one computer-animated Tintin release in the USA. I don't think it had much impact.

No I don't think Tintin did all that great here either. It was very good too. Went to go see it on Christmas Eve with my dad.

I've watched four Asterix movies. They were okay, but I like the comics better.
In the dutch translations they have renamed one of my favorite characters. His name was Abraracourcix before, and in the newer comics he is called Heroix. That is so confusing! I can't get used to the new name so I still call him Abra. Smile

I heard there will be a Valerian movie. I wonder what that will be like. European Comics Rthewrghwegwegweg

Evie, I think the American Tintin movie was released too late in the 2011 holiday season to make much of a profit. It should have been out for Thanksgiving.

Sifra, I saw a brief advertisement this week for the movie version of Valerian. The ad reminded me of other American space movies, with computer-generated scenery.
