And now it is time to address the controversial topic of Recognition. I noticed some..interesting responses to the student poll on Recognition.

Despite all supersitition and words that should probably have not been said by a Samantrabhadra… and lets face it, the elves that said it were thousands of years removed from the whole information contained in the Palace, it is simply a matter of…

a good color match.

Yes, I know about the biological imperative. Its possible to survive that contrary to popular belief. Unfortunately with such psychic creatures as the elves, belief can become reality.

Of course, this matching also depends on the luminosity and saturation.

Avalokitesvara and Vajrapani are strangely a good match, and I’m 99% Leetah was just refusing it all those years with her powers. If this point were retconned into Book 1, it would help the work a lot. It is still kind of a salient point you get after reading what her daughter did in the summer special.

Avalokitesvara, Vajrapani, and Manjushiri are a sacred triad in Tibetan Buddhism, in fact.

Can’t you see the possiblities of Mender/Cutter/Leetah if thy were agemates (which also factors into alignment, see saturation)? The fun would never end. Poor Cutter...

However, Cutter/Leetah/Rayek… you see, looking at his eyes, that Rayek is this dark yellow color. He is an unfortunate dark stereotype of Vajrapani, Shiva doing the dance of destruction.

So that color combination just didnt ship…..

Another factor as i said is the age matching, or the gradual desaturation and falling away of colors on the Scroll. This manifests as a looser matching mechanism over time.

In the case of most of the Palace descendants, there seems to be some kind of emergency mode limiter to ensure the least population variety and the best matches, probably borne of being spacecraft inhabitants. However, i will note that along with the wolf genes, Willowgreen seemed to have accidentally removed this, and upon our arrival here at the Starhome, Mender and I removed the stops to increase the color depth.

A note on cerulean....

Some matches are incredibly difficult, and such is the case of Sundari or Miss Cerulean.

We know her as Jink.

Its incredibly difficult to get Akashagharba and Manjushri to regard each other as anything other than siblings.

and even then, for that to happen literally 10 generations of stuff has to happen for this match to force together with the right amount of yellow and key etc

and even then in the case of Skywise recognizing Timmain-within-Cutter the Palace med systems had to get involved

and then finally after all that, CERULEAN.

She is actually really special. Anyone else know a teleporting, self shaping, telepathic, gorgeous bloodsinger like her? Can already cast psychic surgery at 3?

A side note: aqua, related to cerulean, isnt too common either,  at least 95% of the time the cross between Manjushri and Avalokitesvara yields a standard Ksitigharba like Goldruff. To accomplish this, the incarnate specifically has to call on their higher self in the process, and the missing color information ends up as Aquas full or even twin sibling.

So there you have it, a good accounting of how hue (archetype), saturation (age), and luminosity (karma) produce all the many colors. The fact that archetypes and karma are involved also gives insight into how the elves can read colors as Wendy has described. Mix the colors of Skywise and Ruffel and tell me what kind of storm cloud color you get out of that…..

A note on color tiles...

The color tiles used in Sukharavati are made of magically separated and solidified light. They come out as 1 foot square.(30cm) The things are used in the ECVAT machine, millions of the small 2.5cm (1") tiles produced by breaking a large one in the cutter and obtaining 144 small ones. Their main use, however, is as a shortcut to making magic items or magically create mundane items. You find the right tone of color for the items archetype and merge tiles to get to it over in the tile merger, a machine that whirs along at relativistic speeds to effect the merger of this solidified light. Or, you conversely get the right color for the properties you want to infuse the item with and put it and the item in the infuser.

However, attempting to merge light blue and dark blue tiles directly to get cerulean results in a characteristic reaction. Manjushri and Akashagharba start fighting, see "In All But Blood"....resulting in both faces slamming against each other at hyperspeed. And even after the machine and part of the factory are ruined, still absolutely no cerulean produced because those two 99.9% of the time see each other as siblings.

To emulate the long generational process needed to get to Jink, a pattern of tiles emulating the Scroll over thousands of years is loaded into a machine called a multithreader. A sort of combination of the Worldpool and the Scroll, it reminds one of an MRI somewhat if it also had a large tubular structure where the patient should be. This is where each generation in the form of color tiles is loaded onto a ship (i cracked up when i heard that the first time) and shoved in there starting with the Original Palace Crew going all the way ten-eleven generations to FQ (WITH MODIFICATIONS)

Yep, the thing just runs EQ all day long to spit out 1. count them 1. large cerulean tile as output.

Several problems can happen that will completely halt the production of the cerulean tile. These are caused by color tiles being off.

Sky Blue fault can happen either by Cutter accidentally killing Skywise (see also Indigo Fault) OR by Skywise being hit by lightning instead of Lily.

Light Green fault can happen when Leetah nearly kills herself.

-Aqua- fault can also happen and stop Sunstream from having his vital supporting role which will screw things up. Usually in Book 3, sometimes in Forevergreen, and in one case Discovery O_o
And then theres the Aqua Error that can happen either when he is born and calls for his higher self, or during the Great Call. One machine has been left like this to continue spewing needed Aqua tiles.

Yellow-Orange faults happen if Venka accidentally dies in the forest as a youth. You dont want to know what happens to the tribe without the protection of the White Parasol. The death of Tyleet will also cause this, in a possibly more tragic manner.

Strangely enough, if Rayek falls off the bridge... Yellow fault. (His actions are necessary for this to happen!) Can also happen if Mender dies.

you can also forget about this happening if Strongbow dies to Madcoil, the illness or at many other points. Ultraviolet errors are almost random that way. So are Orange faults and Indigo Faults. Fighting characters can die at many points in the simulation.

No known thing as a teal fault, those characters are known to sacrifice themselves for others.

- Interlude - "First kiss" -

- 3rd hour of ECVAT, green wheel -

At this point, Sunstream could do nothing but stare as the machine cycled at Menders command through each microshade of green-related colors. This. of course, was the idea. The pickups in the crown of the chair picked up on whether the proper signal was generated in the brain, and if not Mender would make adjustments. After several such adjustments, he could swear he was starting to be able to see red and green properly again.

Standing behind the chair prepared to make more adjustments, Mender asked a typical Mender question that he could have never guessed was a spring loaded trap...

"So, who was your first?"

Sunstream answered "Well, contrary to popular belief, it wasnt Brill."

Mender cocked an eyebrow.

"You know i was once a wild teenage elf in the Forevergreen, so long ago, right? I mean, i think you were like what, 5 when we left town?"

"Yeah... so who? Yun? Jethel?"

"It was adorable... two youth exploring love... she introduced me to this whole "kissing" thing which is really fun when you do it underwater..."

At this point, knowing precisely what that meant, Menders brain locked up. It was as if he had looked through the Worldpool the wrong way and gotten locked into a state of singular perception of the whole of reality. A Human. Back THEN. Granted they were a bit obsessed with elves down there, but the way Sunstream was talking made it sound natural, like all the things that Mender did in his own little experiment were not necessary...

Finally he could say something, as Sunstream looked over at him with an ever-widening grin on his face...

"D-did you..."

"Naah, the expected thing happened when we got too close. "

".... OK, eyes forward lets continue...."

Update.

This giant blown up image of her eyes tells me that she was kind of right about Rayek.

They are both Vajrapanis.

::emerges from the Scroll Room after eating an XL popcorn and finding all the answers he could hope for::

And now its time to take everyone back, way back to a time where the technologies were more experimental, the -ayoohyah- a bit chunkier (but man those KI models could take a pounding from an asura and still make a call!). A time before the Last War and the ZVEZDA treaty, when Solaris was still a dominant threat in the galaxy. A time before The Tyleet Show got on EPR TV.

A time when this carrier was brand new.....

(Note: Gallente equipment from Eve Online does a real good job of looking like our modern, hybridized craft. A Megathron, for another example, is a Timmain-class battleship and i can mount almost as many railguns on one. and a Tristan just plain out and out looks like youre flying an asura.)

TJS Forevergreen

Forevergreen-class supercarrier

Length: 9.8km Width: 4.7km

Crew: 4000

Craft:

300 Asura, various types
1000 battle armored marines
200 ground vehicles
200 Wraithjets

Armament

200 PD scatter laser batteries with Larethian AMMS (anti missile missles)
20 Kelpathi'na Iressen (KI) Naval Railgun (fixed forward)
400 KI Multina kinetic kill Rockets (F)
2x Mining Laser.

Munitions plant on board.

Propulsion

Impulse: 4x Morisato XXL Fusion Thruster, 8x Morisato XXL maneuvering blister.
Insystem Warp: Crystalline Light Displacement Matrix by Larethian
FTL: Experimental Slipstream Drive!

Begun in 44064 after the Bane incident and finished in 44067, the Forevergreen-class supercarrier was made for extended exploration and search and destroy missions in hostile or unexplored territory. This is facilitated by its large crew complement, storage, and the experimental slipstream drive based on technology recovered from ruins left on Ganymede by Skyward long, long ago. This allows it to bypass the clumsy stargate system and go directly TO the target star system in much the same manner as one of the Guild Navigators of the Imperium. This carrier made that their -former- only advantage. Its maiden voyage, of course, was the now-legendary hunt for Derek Blackspire, the Bane, after he used that Imperial advantage to come to Sukharvati and somehow gain access to the Crystal Dome of the Father Tree itself inside the Palace. That incident nearly led to complete and total disaster were it not for Dart, who managed to see through his disguise as a meditating Strongbow and confronted him before he could do any more psychic damage to Timmain's crystal. Unfortunately, by the time the Wraithguard, Sunstream etc. poured in and drove him to teleport away, Dart had been hit with a bolt of black magic and was alive but apparently comatose: it took him a year to recover. After that, Derek displayed the uncanny ability to hide himself even from the efforts of many Pathfinders to find him and his possible fortress over the next 3 years, even as he continued to take the souls of elfin magic-users. The supercarrier was not only to serve as a remote base for Pathfinders, it was also meant for the purpose of tackling the evil ones fortress and army when discovered.

And now that ive described this ship, its time to tell of her maiden voyage 23 years ago... the whirlwind tour of the galaxy known as:

Operation: Windblade

(right after i get some rest)

Foreword:

Now, one is probably wondering what the heck this apparent military sci-fi extravanganza is going to have to do with EQ.

I can promise you that for the most part, the Forevergreen is just a vehicle for these characters, going to parts of the galaxy far away from direct confrontation. Even the supercarrier as described could not hold out against the concentrated forces of Solaris and in fact took such extensive damage during the Last War that immediately afterwards she was retired to be our mobile naval school with a side mission of exploration. One of the main launch galleries in fact has never been rebuilt and remains as it was, a giant gash torn into the ship by one of the Omen's main weapons and a memorial to the hundreds who died in that incident.

I can also say that one of the main things covered will be the forever unanswered "Where are the others?"

you will also see other familiar things such as the elves having to navigate hostile human cities and hostile wilderness (hopefully no one has forgotten how to start a fire).

What, you thought all this was going to take place on the ship?

All i can say is, prepare to be surprised...
