| You know what else is hard to get? Bicycles! Out of all things, I thought I'd buy a cheep bike to use to get to work, but it's darn hard to find a cheep one, since prices are raiding to hevans. You can't even get spare parts anymore. So I wonder whenever that will solve. | |

Where I live there are several facebook groups for buying and selling as well as 'general info' groups... if there's one for your area maybe you can ask if anyone has one for sale. You be able to get one for free. | |

| @IceTooth: This was still customary in Northern Germany as well. When the farmer died, the widow would marry a younger guy unless some other farmer would think it as an opportunity to grab some more land. At Frisian islands it was customary to marry a young widow as fishermen and especially pilots died young. It was not uncommon for a 17-year-old girl to marry, get widowed at 20, remarry, get widowed again and so on. Sometimes only some old men were left to marry. Those poor women... Imagine you had three kids the oldest being 6 or so, and your husband had just been engulfed by the sea... there is no way for you to provide for your kids, would you not marry some nice old peg-leg if he helps you to survive? On the other hand, many women died during birth or shortly after, so it was common for widowers to remarry so they had someone to care for their children. I wish those times would not come back.
