| If I'm to be perfectly honest, I turned it off in the first 10 mins because I got all pissy and reactive when I heard him talk about what a dick Rayek was being about Winnie (it's just such a sore point for me). That was a few weeks back, and I've gotten over myself now, so I'll go back and have a listen. I've heard several other podcasts of his and like hearing the speculations. ___________________________________________________ Thank you for the beautiful banner, Embala | |

Yeah... I think I saw some elves in the background with headphones on at one point. ___________________________________________________ "When you do what you love best, you shine where you love."Come play the Who Am I game!

| Or else, maybe, he's non-verbal autistic? But, like, the elf version of that?
Seriously though-- maybe he's been introduced to include a character that is not neurotypical. Did anyone else think that when he showed up?

| No clue. I was reminded of Dreamsinger, that's all.
The bits I got from the BoTC prose novel discussions on the Scroll Dreamsinger was not neurotypical at all. ___________________________________________________ Indem du etwas tust, das dir oder jemand anderem gefällt, erschaffst du bereits einen Wert.

| Well, he (Dre-Ahn) is The Loneliest of The Lonely. Maybe he's been alone for such a long time he simply haven't had the need to talk or send before. ___________________________________________________ "When you do what you love best, you shine where you love."Come play the Who Am I game! | |

| I think you are right, Redhead Amber. I had the impression Wendy just wants to introduce more elfs, who have developped differently than the tribes we already know. I hope Dre-Ahn gets more space in the story, and I hope the tree elfs will also make an appearance soon! ___________________________________________________ | |

| Ember has a point. It could be Dre-ahn forgot how to send or speak, and would sing to pass the time and keep himself company, so that ability didn't atrophy. ___________________________________________________ “Stay drunk on writing so reality doesn’t destroy you.” - Ray Bradbury.

They do.... and they make it to the Palace eventually... as the Hulls of the Djin's Fleet! (Sorry, I'm having one of those days... ) ___________________________________________________

| Naah. The Djun's not Djin, he's not a spirit from the middle east fleet has already been built and I'm pretty sure the tree elfs are somewhere else entirely. ___________________________________________________ "When you do what you love best, you shine where you love."Come play the Who Am I game! | |

| Thanks for the correction, I get it mixed up all the time.
I was gonna make a crack about the palace being trans-temporal and the tree elves' imagery being before the ships were built, then I realized a more serious impact: if the palace is able to do whatever through time, why didnt they send the call back in time a bit so the other elves would get there now instead of who knows when.
And dont give me crap about paradoxes and crossed timelines or " the doctor says so"... they already crossed timelines when they arrived and found signs they or someone like them was already "here", causing increased interest in landing and shape-changing into elves in the first place.
Im sure its a "because the big bad white wolf said", but thats weak. ___________________________________________________

| Probably messing with time is not a good idea. Besides, if they had sent it back, they would have heard it earlier, before they sent it out, and it would have seriously confused them. | |

| If Simpsons taught me anything, it's that messing with time will alter the cosmos in ways we can't possibly imagine. | |

| That little headshoft of Dre-ahn when The Call stops on page 7 in the second panel reminds me of Wendy's older style, a lot. And made me realize how much I missed it. I hope we do see more of the tree-elves and that the one female seen again in #10 doesn't turn out to be another Winniowill or Kahvi who needs to be put in her place later on. | |

| Tbh the more I think about the decision to just let Winnowill and Rayek go, the stupider it seems. I mean, this is someone (Winnowill) who has not only repeatedly stated outright her intent to kill every elf on the Abode that she cannot bring under her control, but has made multiple attempts to do so. You're telling me they couldn't just knock Rayek out and get it done?
This is ridiculous. | |

| While I don't necessarily advocate the group-mind of the Palace brainwashing Winnowill into health (Timmain has such a terrible track record with consent issues), the way everyone shrugged off Rayek's choice to keep her imprisoned with this "Oh, those crazy kids, they need to sit down and work out their problems" vibe disturbed me to no end. And then adding that joke about Petalwing driving Rayek nuts - "oh, it's such comedy gold! Winnowill AND Petalwing? Let's all giggle at Rayek's predicament!"
ugh.

| This isn't Winnowill choosing to stay a person who eats oranges, or something. She is ACTIVELY choosing to be a genocidal bigot. She's choosing to be a harmful person.
And frankly, as powerful as Rayek is, he's in a very dangerous world. He could die at any moment, and then where will they be? It works as only a short term solution and not a very good one.

This is ridiculous. Which makes me wonder: has Rayak even SLEPT in decades? The chaos she caused while Two Edge slept earlier, and while Rayak was a wake in Rogue's Curse.... can he afford to sleep (or lose conscousness) ___________________________________________________
