Right... I dunno if this is odd but it's a theory.

I've always been a bit bothered by how Shuna at the end of Discovery is being all "Oh, the spirits have it easy! They just know when they're meant to be!" because I took it to mean she was referring to Recognition, and as we all know Recognition isn't always easy; just ask Dewshine.
But, maybe she was simply referring to knowing, with or without Recognition.

Sunstream and Brill knew from the moment they recognized - and maybe before - that they were meant to be.
Cutter and Leetah knew sometime after their Recognition - at least for Leetah's part, think Cutter knew all the time - that they were meant to be.
But... here's the thing:
Scouter and Dewshine also knew that they were meant to be. (And Dewshine and Tyleet knew.)
Treestumpt and Clearbrook knew.
Skot, Krim and Pike knew.
And... Tyldak and Dewshine also knew. They knew that they weren't meant to be.

So... maybe 'Becoming Lifemates' for elves is as simple as knowing. As simple as the day it feels right to call each other 'Lifemate'.
Maybe Shuna's and Ikopek's wedding were like that too; they too knew.

Theory or headcanon: reading a manga about a man who can turn into a bird trying to win the woman he loves. He thinks a courtship dance will do it.

So i thought of elves trying to do a courtship dance to attract an elf they like. And since Gliders are bird related tribe, i have now decided when they did mate,Gliders did courtship dances in front of their intended mate lol

Right, this is something I read in one of those possibly-not-quite-canon character lists - those that include info from all the BoTC novels, and such - that can be found around the internet. However, I can't quite remember where I found it:
The theory basically is that maybe Rellah is Timmain's firstborn daughter. And if that's the case... talking about having some intense dislike for your brother's descendants!

I also have a bit of a weird "shipping theory":
Ahnshen and Dodia. Yeah, I know... they've never been shown interacting, or even - explicitly - shown in the same storyline.
