How that is ...

Well, as a kid it was fine for me. The year was a bit long ... but my mother made sure that I'll get something for birthday and something for Christmas - independant gifts worth the amount each child got for birthday and Christmas. Of course my Mom took the freedom to raise the scale a bit if necessary. This way - when I've put my birthday gifts and Christmas gifts together I had double of what my brothers had. And the relatives followed Mom's example. But the best was ... I shared my birthday with Grandpa! Grandpa was the best, you know? ^^

As an adult I made sure to celebrate at my birthday date ... you know, it would be "not true" anymore if I'd have waited until there was time again after the holidays. I wasn't into big parties anyway and my friends and relatives knew and were there for me - some for half of the day, some for an hour only. It was relaxed and great this way.

Now that I've hit Elder age and most of my relatives and friends have partners and kids and extended families of their own ... I take the freedom to spend my birthday and Christmas where I like to be ... and it is fine for me.

I enjoy it the way it is.

Meow! Right, there was one more on 23rd. And if nobody else takes care of announcing birthdays... you gotta do it for yourself? Aww! Poor Embala.
