| It's not generally known that in "Fire and Flight", when Cutter and the Wolfriders emerge from the Troll Caverns, they are standing in the bed of the Los Angeles River. If Elfquest does take place in Southern California, it would make a great crossover with the American TV show "NCIS: Los Angeles." ___________________________________________________

| Just imagine ... ... rain would have fallen in the mountains at the wrong moment - no elf quest. ___________________________________________________ Indem du etwas tust, das dir oder jemand anderem gefällt, erschaffst du bereits einen Wert. | |

| If LA still uses the riverbed for driving practice, the Elves could snag a floating school bus. ___________________________________________________ | |

If Elfquest does take place in Southern California, it would make a great crossover with the American TV show "NCIS: Los Angeles." even as im laughing at this..... I dunno. I keep thinking of these mountains as like the roots of a giant tree. Like Cutter's dying vision. and wouldnt you know it i saw a Beemer going through Thousand Oaks with the license plate "TUSHITA". Not even kidding. But then theres this pic i captured out by Fontana....

| The adaptation would be crazy. As i alluded to earlier: Wolfriders - a ::ahem:: "motorcycle club" Sun folk - generally found holding LA together and cooking excellent food Gliders - Hello Hollywood elites, in their own little world upon the famous hills Go-Backs - Perhaps some of our local gangsters could fill in the role, their life is a war as well, unfortunately Wavedancers - seen running for the shore across the PCH shouting "Dude! Surfs up!!!" But why the heck is the Navy getting involved????? Did some poor Marine get burnt out in a blast of pink light? | |

| LOLs at Biker Club and Surf Dudes! I can see that!
Winnowill would make a diva for sure! And Voll finds his place in Hollywood, too.
I wouldn't match the Go-Bachs with gangsters. Not at all. They are mor like the Sunfolk - just the other side of the coin. There must be hard working straigforward and practical people in California - without much fancy ideas. People to whom the struggle to live is the true war. These would be the Go-Backs for me.

| you know, im sure those characteristics could also apply to the law abiding citizens down there, the amount of stuff you have to survive daily to live in a place like Compton is ridiculous. But you were thinking of casting this as a crime drama.
Since im having trouble imagining where the Navy gets involved, im instead thinking this is all starting to sound like the city in Astral i keep alluding to consisting of a giant tree growing on the shore, overshadowing a giant and truly cosmos-politan city where the spaceport never sees the end of the action.
The resemblance between that place and LA is uncanny, on the surface. Just stick the Palace/tree straight into the Hollywood Peak. When i first came here i was wondering how the heck this place was in physical, or if i had somehow physically crossed over.
And now, thanks to this thread, i think i know why.

| Cloud trees for Sorrows End - sun trees for California. Palo looks great with its intense yellow blossoms against the deep blue sky, Koji. ___________________________________________________ Indem du etwas tust, das dir oder jemand anderem gefällt, erschaffst du bereits einen Wert. | |

| I love palo verde. The green bark is just so unusual. I have a huge one of them in my front yard, and sure enough, come a touch of warm weather... POOF. Flowers all over. They attract SOOOO many pollinators. Six-legged as well as the avian sort. ___________________________________________________

| NCIS LA writers always find some way to get a situation connected to the Navy. An Elfquest tie-in shouldn't be difficult.
Perhaps an organized crime syndicate of Eastern European mountain trolls kidnap a Go-Back Elf whose fiancé's brother's stepson's math tutor is a Navy lieutenant.
(Also, Linda Hunt is only four foot nine.) ___________________________________________________

| I remember seeing this type of artwork. I once spent a weekend in a hotel convention center outside of Tucson. I landed at the airport and went for a long ride to the hotel.
There were decorated highway overpasses, one with an image of the hunchback flute player seen so often in Southwestern art. The landscaping along the highway was also attractive. Generally it gave me a sense of civic pride.
Blank, flat walls tend to attract grafitti. The solution is either a deep texture like combed concrete, or artwork that's attractive enough to discourage vandalism.
BTW one of the craziest plants I've ever seen is the octopus agave. A large specimen was at the Tucson Botanical Gardens when I visited. It looked like something Redlance created.

| Arizona seems to be a very "When in doubt, decorate it!" sort of place. The entire light rail line is one long sculpture and tile-art gallery.
And yes, Kokopelli is everywhere out here. I don't think it's possible to go a block without seeing one. But like with kachinia, which are also common in decoration, it's important to know and respect the origin.

| That occurred to me when I started seeing Kokopelli and "dreamcatchers" appearing on souvenirs. ___________________________________________________ | |

| Oh yeah, that's another one, the dreamcatcher. I see a lot of Kachina out here. A lot of people own them without knowing what they own. I remember when warbonnets as a look for music festivals blew up, too. ___________________________________________________

| And if i ever see that "look" again at an event, im taking it off, gently and mischeviously, with my khakkhara (which is definitely a thing that no one can take from me).
In the rare case of a genuine article, im taking it back to ND straight away.
Otherwise, its going straight into the nearest fire pit there at the burn or whatever.
