I need to take a new pic. 2020 has worn be a bit, but I'm still waiting on my first gray hair. XD

Though I didn't get as much sun this year, so my hair stayed black instead of changing to kinda of a dark red plum color like it normally does in summer.

Unrequested male opinion; but as Kojiyumi mentioned - you both have absolutely nothing to worry about.

Thank you. I just know that sometimes men commenting on a female's photo may come across as unwanted, weird, etc.

So I am always worried about saying something like, "You look really beautiful in this photo" because it may offend someone, cause concern, whatever the case may be.

Being called beautiful or (more commonly) cute has never offended me, and I'm not sure it could! Might find it more offensive to be considered so easy to offend. And posting in a pic in heavily male-leaning group only to be met with deafening silence does nothing for one's confidence!

Okay -- there're certainly situations in which it would be weird, unwanted, inappropriate, condescending, or all of those -- but that'd be gender-independent, I think. And this here is not one of those situations.

But since I grew up as a boy I might have missed out on some formative bad experiences, so -- only speaking for myself here!

Actually, is ElfQuest a male heavy leaning group? I feel it's far more female leaning. I am not sure what the dynamic of the members here are - but even here, I feel it leans towards female in numbers than males.

I meant other groups, sorry about the confusion.

@Anjune I'd love to be able to keep them down, even just a little, but with how doc did my bifocal it really messes up my depth perception.

If I posted a pic to a mostly male group and got nada I think I'd just delete it and find somewhere else. The silence would really hurt though, I'd rather get a yuck or yum than nada.

I agree on the EQ, my mom and two of my daughters are all EQ nuts (Laurali, Blackmoth and Rainthorwen), but I could get only one of my boys into it (Two-Wolves). All the kids and mom have elves though, lol. I couldn't help it

Here I am with Rainthorwen (her elf name), she's almost caught up to me in height.

Yeah - I get it (the no comments makes it feel like "Ugh") - but at least here (I don't even know when it was added or if it was always there) - there's the snazzy "Like" button. So folks can at least acknowledge that they saw and "Liked" it.

Yeah - I am gun shy, because a lot of women now really stand up for themselves and that's great - but there are some that don't need what they call "validation" (and I am putting that in quotes because like everything - religion or whatever - you always have extremes) - so someone saying, "You look great in that photo!" is a direct insult to them - as if what you said was a slur. I even had three women literally STOP in front of me as I was holding a door open for them at a restaurant I was coming out of - and stare at me - and she literally went off on me about holding the door open for her/them. But I grew up with parents who said open doors for ladies, throw your jacket over a puddle if a woman needs to walk across it, etc. I always try to be kind, courteous, complimenting, but phew - these days - that gets me a nice scolding.

So it's a difficult balance of finding out who is OK with, "You look great in that photo" and who it's just safer to click "Like" on the photo.

I had an entire conversation with Kojiyumi, for example. Because I had said something along the lines of "I like dark women with light colored eyes, because they look exotic." (Referencing the way I colored Leetah in one of my colorings - https://fathertreeholt.forumotion.com/t534p25-digitally-coloring-bw-images#54946). And she educated me on how women find being called "exotic" as derogatory - and I'd never heard of that until Kojiyumi educated me on that. (And I am in no way "calling out" Kojiyumi - I am glad she told me, so I don't keep repeating the same mistake and potentially offending someone who might just bite their tongue in silence).

So as a guy, I feel like at times, I just need to walk on eggshells when addressing women or complimenting them.

Well, that was entirely too serious. So here's a wolf pup I got to meet that they're going to use as an ambassador - and were getting him accustomed to different people and scents - and wanted someone in a hat and beard.

We get told this all the time. I look just like my mom now that I'm older now. A foot taller though, so a little more stretched. I remember once at work my daughter was dropping off my lunch and I heard someone in the crew room yell to her that 'your mom is in the office'. It was one of the first times she showed up. Then all we'd hear the rest of the day was long the lines, 'oh yea, that's your girl' hehe. So much fun. Let me see if I can find that one pic of the three of us...

I like to think I aged well from this time. We put our pics up at work and people had to guess who was who... LOL. Someone thought I just used a filter app (some people straight up did)
