| Those points in ElfQuest history, however small or big, that made you say "Awww," or "Squeee!" or bask in the glow of good feelings.
The two I can think of off the top of my head involve Cutter and his children. When Ember was rescued from the Djun and his men, it didn't matter that she was forty-plus years old; Cutter took her onto his lap and held her close. And when Sunstream told Cutter about his own doubts about ending the quest Cutter started, Sunstream could lean on Cutter's thigh like he was still a cub.
To me, that's a beautiful example of a loving, stable parent-child relationship. It doesn't matter how old you are; sometimes you need the reassurance of your parents, and Cutter and Leetah always deliver.

| I completely agree! It's such a good message.
I think my favorite moment in all of Elfquest is the end of Tyleet's story- when she sings to her adopted child as he dies. I think that was one of the most touching stories in the entire series.

| I can't help but cry every time I read Tyleet's Little Patch! I read this as a kid and I would say it matured me a lot and back then it gave me a better understanding the suffering from prejudices. Tyleet was Little Patch's only rescue and she raised him into the best wolf-rider he could be. The way he teached him "the way" and sung like a mother for him before he died was touching my heart. In this story we were introduced to Tyleets admirable character and her big heart, as well as her immense empathy for people in need.

| I love the story of Tyleet and her human cub. It was my first introduction to "Elfquest" and, if I ever sell my collection, will be the one issue I keep.
One of my favorite moments - though it's a bit bittersweet - is when Ekuar sends Rayek off to Blue Mountain. He tries to comfort a Rayek who is grieving bitterly the loss of his hoped-for child. His words ("What's all this scrambling for without the babies?") are touching and wise and for a moment break through Rayek's self-control. Rayek's face at that moment is one of the ones I'd ask for, if Wendy came and offered me my choice of un-seen moments for her to draw.

| I guess the three biggest emotional moments for me were:
1. When Zhantee was dying, and Cutter shared his Recognition with Leetah with him. 2. When Rayek lay dying from his fight with Cutter, and sent "Thank you for raising my child." 3. When Strongbow found that he couldn't kill the rabid Lashpaw. ___________________________________________________ I'm not old. I've just been young for a very long time...

| Think I generally like moments where elves and humans show that they don't have to be enemies.

| 1. The end of Kotbw. When Cutter and Leetah reunites, specially this page . Get all teary when I see it...the whole: He waited 500 years before they went to sleep, and he didn't know if he would ever see them again at all, and here they are, and also, I really like this panel: I didn't read Kotbw until almost 15 years after Siege, so it was a long time I didn't know if Rayek got to met his daughter, or how they met, so this was nice 2. Of course Leetah didn't go around believing Rayek was dead for so long, but even so, this moment was really touchy. I have a thousand more, but this ones for now. ___________________________________________________ | |

| It's hard for me to add to this thread. When you ask me: What is A heartwarming moment? I might come up with something. When you ask: What is your favorite heartwarming moment? I'm like stunned. Oh, I find these moments when I ready EQ ... it would be impossible not to have those feelings. But for some weird reason I do not remember. Not when I'm asked. When I read this thread memories come back ... and there are many scenes I can nod at and tell: Yes, this one counts for me, too. And otheres I've never looked at with special attention ... and now can see with different eyes. Or siply discover it from your point of view. Sometimes, when I look for material for a collage I find "my" special moments again. This would be one: ___________________________________________________ Indem du etwas tust, das dir oder jemand anderem gefällt, erschaffst du bereits einen Wert.

| Embala, I can't place that picture. . . which part of the story is it from?
Another Moment (capitalized) for me was when Skywise was trapped inside the rock at Blue Mountain, and Cutter forced Door to open the rock. *Stars! I've missed you!* as Skywise fell into Cutter's arms. Wow. ___________________________________________________ I'm not old. I've just been young for a very long time...

| It's a collage, Wordgazer. Two scenes from Wolfsong (OQ #4): - Bearclaw's farewell to sleeping Cutter when he leaves to meet Madcoil - and Cutter's farewell when Bearclaw dies and passes New Moon to him ___________________________________________________ Indem du etwas tust, das dir oder jemand anderem gefällt, erschaffst du bereits einen Wert. | |

That's a great moment too! The drawings really communicate how much they love each other. I like it, because I think it drives home a basic truth- you sometimes don't realize how important what you have might be to you until you almost lose it. The brush of Bearclaw's hand across Cutter's cheek is very poignant. You can tell Bearclaw is not the kind of father who hands out that sort of affection casually... and you can also tell that Cutter knows he is loved by his dad.

| There is a moment from the issue 9 preview I found really sweet. - Issue 9 preview:
Windkin telling Aroree that he's actually glad she did what she did, because if he'd still had his wolfblood he would likely be dead by now, and that she never Again need to apologise for changing his life. Momma is proud of her boy!

| I like the moments when the Cutter torch and the Skywise sit together somewhere (on the hill, on a roof, on the top of a tree) and communicate. | |

| A few more:
Ember as the most natural thing in the world referring to Shuna as "my sister", even thought she's probably the one in the family who've had the least to do with her.
Treestump almost instantly beginning to refer to Teir as "my great-grandson", despite the fact that as far as I know they've never even met.
And finally in the scene in issue 9 just after the Go-Backs arrived in the forge we see Venka and Cutter greeting each other, Gahv getting healed, Pyutt nosebleeding all over the place, and two Go-Backs just sorta cuddling up in the chair, neither of them looks wounded; instead it looks like a case of "Hey. I just need you to hold me now." ___________________________________________________ "When you do what you love best, you shine where you love."Come play the Who Am I game!

| I remembered another. Suntop and Ember are hugging in Sorrow's End where Suntop will soon begin his training with Savah, and basically telling each other "Be good, Cloudhead." "Be good, Pest." That's something my own twin and I might do in a similar situation, so it got me in the feels. ___________________________________________________ “Stay drunk on writing so reality doesn’t destroy you.” - Ray Bradbury.

| Kahvi leaving Teir with his adoptive parents. She knew she would never be able to love him, so she made sure to place him with people who would raise him as their own. Even more; she did it so he wouldn't know he was unwanted. It would've been so easy for her to simply leave him in a snowbank to die, or - even worse - raise him herself while constantly reminding him that she considered him nothing but a disappointment. ___________________________________________________ "When you do what you love best, you shine where you love."Come play the Who Am I game! | |

| I'm afraid I don't agree with that, Ember. If Kahvi had truly loved Teir, she would have said "This boy is related to Tyldak, whom I loved more than anyone else. I will cherish him and raise him well." But because Teir was male, she couldn't be bothered with him. Yes, it was much better that she left him with his adoptive family, especially when Lehrigen hunted and killed her, but I can't imagine that she did it out of love.
Kahvi turned into a very selfish person. The only good thing she did for Teir was coming to his aid whilst he was in danger of drowning, and even then, she mocked him. Though the resulting rage galvanized Teir into breaking the surface of the water, Kahvi still belittled and berated him.
I think whatever love Kahvi might have felt for any other elf died when she gave Tyldak that mercy kill. ___________________________________________________ “Stay drunk on writing so reality doesn’t destroy you.” - Ray Bradbury.

| That's kinda what I meant; Kahvi knew she could never be the mother's Teir needed, knew that she could never truly love him, so she made sure to place him with parents who would love him. Moreover; she didn't just drop him off with the first couple - or even single person - she came across, she made sure to place him with people she could trust. In all its coldness leaving Teir might have been the only way Kahvi could do right by her son, and - even though he probably wouldn't agree - the best thing she ever did for him until she got him to fight to survive in FQ6. Besides; it's kinda my head-canon that the couple she left him with were some who had been longing for children for a long time. ___________________________________________________ "When you do what you love best, you shine where you love."Come play the Who Am I game! | |

Vaya wanted to live up to her standards-- and her tears showed that she clearly loved her daughter, despite what appeared to be a rocky relationship. But maybe by the time Tier came along, she was maxed out. He wasn't exactly what she wanted-- a daughter to be her heir. You have to wonder if she would have been an adequate parent to a girl either. If you know you can't do right by someone, the best thing is sometimes to walk away.

| Another thing is, Kahvi wasn't alone in making a baby. Wind kin agrees to have a kid with this obviously not completely mentally stable chick, then decides to take off, which really doesn't reflect well on him. So, honestly, while I pretty much agree that Kahvi just up and leaving Teir wasn't super heart-warming, I think more people should be talking about where the hell Windkin was in all this? | |
