My eyes suddenly felt a bit odd while I was working with a furneral bouquet today, like when you get hairspray in your eyes. | I've discovered that I can actually recreate my mother's recipe for stuffed grape leaves, which is probably one of my favorite comfort foods. She never gave me the recipe but sort of a loose list of ingredients and some advice even though she forgot a lot of it and hasn't made the dish in about 7 years and no longer really cooks. Yet now I can make it really, really well. My mom's recipe is really different because it's not traditional Egyptian or Syrian, rather it's kind of bastardized and has been modified into a kind of awesome that I always dreamed I could make...and now I can! Funny thing, how this was always comfort food for me and my mom would make it when I visited, but now that she's older and no longer cooking, but craving this kind of food, I will make it for her next time  ___________________________________________________ Thank you for the beautiful banner, Embala   | |
