| So maybe Winnowil wasn't attacking him? Maybe she was trying to help him become something he wanted to shape himself into-- and the process got interrupted? | |

| I'm going to say this:
I've been a lot of things through this final quest. I've been irritated, amused, annoyed, and irate, but for the first time, I'm actually angry. I feel like my time and my money have been wasted, and I don't have have a lot of either.

| Kathleen, did you get to read the latest wtf installment?
Lunakat, I also have noooo idea what the deal is with him. I actually don't think Winnowill was actively doing anything. Or was she, somewhere else? I don't know. ___________________________________________________ Thank you for the beautiful banner, Embala

| I'm hyperlexic, so I reread it, hoping I missed something in speeding through it. Nothing. None of it makes sense. There's no connection.
It's like it was written by someone who never read the original, and didn't care to.

| I agree with you about that - that is was written by someone else who didn't read the original. The dialogue is one of the things which bothers me which I felt myself twitching about again today. Regular phrases have become overly expository: "Our friends the Gliders" vs just "The Gliders"...."Out of wolf rider sending range" vs "out of sending range"...it's coming off a bit dumbed down to me and I wonder if it's because of the 'new' audience.
Not sure if anyone's seen Wendy's new entry on the EQ site: http://elfquest.com/the-halfway-mark/

| Really Lunakat? That's weird, I went looking on EQ right after I couldn't find the FB link and read that.
I am not sure what it all means to be honest, not sure what to think. I'll have to reread it several times. ___________________________________________________ Thank you for the beautiful banner, Embala

| I have to admit, it made me bite my tongue a bit.
It's not hard to read this stuff. It's like watching Michaelangelo carve "La Pieta" and then start doodling silly mustaches on Mary and Christ while painting them with Day-Glo paints while he tells you this is what he truly meant all along, but I don't think hard is the word.

| I really am trying to keep an open mind, and I will buy all of the remaining issues, of course. I just have no clue what the hell is going on. I will however always associate this time with being here on this forum and enjoying the company here, which is consistently nothing short of awesome. ___________________________________________________ Thank you for the beautiful banner, Embala | |

| I found the whole issue clunky and awkward, both story and art. I'll continue reading too, for the sake of conclusion, but the saddest thing for me is this taints everything that has gone before. I don't know if I can ever see OQ the same way again. | |

| Nooooooo! The colors are so bad. So. Bad.
Why? Why why why why?
Okay-- I'm following the story... I can accept the plot and events that happen... but the writing. The writing is not good. The art is also not the worst I've ever seen but very much not Wendy Pini's best.
I want her to find a new colorist. I mean-- Sonny is not great, has never been great-- but he was okay. Still.. this is just plain terrible. it really is.
I'm going to cry now. Farewell Elfquest that I loved-- hello brave new world.

| I think this issue is Wendy Pini giving us the finger. I really do.
Now what she wrote on the website makes sense. Now I understand. She got tired of our bitching and moaning and, just like my mom, was all-- you want me to give you something to complain about? Here. How do you like them apples?

| You're on a boat. Your favorite author and artist is driving the boat. There are other people with you.. it's a popular ride. The waves are choppy- but that makes it fun. Then... in the distance... a shark! You see the shark! "Shark!" everyone cries! "Avoid the shark!"
The boat steers toward the shark.
You close your eyes. Please don't jump that shark! You cross your fingers. Please! Not that shark! Don't do it! You open your eyes. The ship is headed toward the shark.
It's coming quickly.
A voice over the loudspeaker speaks. "Ladies and Gentlemen.. This is your captain! It looks like there is a large shark in the rather close distance. We are going to jump it. Brace yourselves. I repeat- I am going to jump that shark!"
Everyone grabs a rail. Voices rise up. "Don't jump the shark! Don't jump it! We're all on board!" Some cry "How dare you!" Others "But we love you!" A couple stupid people are like "That's not a shark! That's a dolphin!" But to no avail.
As if in slow motion... this boat jumps that shark.
Crash.
Oh Captain, my Captain...

| Reef is a deep one! I bet there is a even more shattering truth to come: the Wavedancers are actually fish people from Innsmouth! All hail to Cutulhu!
Windkin's wings got even more silly and Venka is too much of a sissy to cope with a grazing shot :/
Still, the issue is not that bad and even though the art might be sub par, we have seen worse (apparently the best one can say about newer Elfquest issues is that one is not that bad). I liked how Strongbow seemed to start to accept, that Moonshade gave up her wolf blood.

All this would make sense if it were merely the customary madness which preludes great Cthulhu rising from Rl'yeh once more!

| Yes, Windkin's wings got even more ridiculous with the whirling jelly sleeve option. I also doubt Venka is seriously hurt - I actually hope not. It would be hilarious if it was Kahvi in Rayek's head, not Winnowill, at the moment of revenge upon the humans.
Did anyone notice the little Korfay troll doll on the old guy? I guess this was the old dude that was peeing and saw her.
Also: Strongbow. I didn't realize elves were capable of such staggeringly passive aggressive behavior. That open sending of his made me kind of giggle. Seeing Moonshade in the background turn away. Maybe she can go hook up with Ahnshen (or whatever his name is) now. I was sort of surprised to hear his mention, and I'm wondering if they're setting up some kind of possible pairing with the two.
It's weird but I almost feel annoyed by this issue because it should be longer so things are more explained. Isn't there some option for them to kind of combine issues or something when a lot is going on? The events seem totally all over the place and then abruptly it's the final page. I dunno, I guess I am used to reading full issues so I am spoiled.
I also heard that there were a lot of coloring mistakes / accidents this issue, according to Wendy. I can see them somewhat. I need to go back and look again and I don't really feel like it right now. ___________________________________________________ Thank you for the beautiful banner, Embala
