| Sure, there are better artists than Wendy. But when it comes to EQ, she will always be the benchmark; it's her creation, after all.
And actually, the Big Two writers and artists haven't always handled changing characters and art well. There'd be feuds between writers, and one character killed off would somehow survive, or some background or recent development would change.
I don't think Wendy will ever stop doing art, in whatever medium. So I wouldn't be surprised if a few years down the road she decided to do a one-shot graphic novel...although right now I don't think it's likely. She could do another portfolio. She could make a divination deck using EQ. Or finish the novelization of the last part of the Original Quest. Or do something entirely different. One thread I regret never posting to the Scroll of Colors was "What would you like Wendy to adapt?" I'd love to see her adaption of Andre Norton's The Crystal Gryphon or Meredith Ann Pierce's The Woman Who Loved Reindeer.

| There are few comic artists past or present who are as good as Wendy Pini. Who can draw more than one type of female face/figure or who can draw similar to fairy/monster art. I do not want Greg Land,Rob Liefeld or most established comic artists anywhere near the elves, trolls or humans. With some of the prior artists doing Elfquest it got bad. I mean bad enough that Dewshine and Nightfall could'v shared the same bra-size and worse! Any new official artist needs to prove they can draw the characters well and distinctive and not in cookie cutter mode. | |

| So the cover is out and... didn't Skywise give that headpiece to Yun? Doesn't he wear some sparkly thing now? | |

| It's hard to tell with the misty effect, but I think that is the sparkly one, since it's got a star in the middle. His original headpiece didn't. | |

| Curious to hear people's thoughts on this -- the cover notwithstanding, do you think Leetah will survive? | |

No. But I could be wrong.

| "Fateful events set in motion last issue continue to have unstoppable consequences, as dire battles are fought on both the physical and the spiritual realms". What consequences? The explosion at the Father Tree? The failed peace treaty? And fights on the spiritual realm? Is Winnowill breaking loose again?
"Can the Great Wheel of time and history, broken so many thousands of years ago, ever be made whole again?" So Rayek was right about his plans?
I think Leetah is going to be on the verge of dying and Cutter will bring her back ("think of our unborn cub!"), a bit like at the end of KoTBW. ___________________________________________________ It's a dolphin!

| For a long time I was convinced that "mortal" Cutter will survive while his "immortal" lifemate(e) Skywise or Leetah or both will die. All this talk about "Leetah will see him grow old and die" and his promise that he will "fly in the Palace with Skywise once he died" made me think so.
But now - that it looks like this might actually happen - I don't believe in it anymore. The way FQ went so far - the habit that "announced" dire events will not happenand the overall mood makes me think so.
IF Leetah should die and the cubling with her I'd be very surprised - ... or not al all maybe? - but hardly affected. And THAT would be the truely sad part for me. ___________________________________________________ Indem du etwas tust, das dir oder jemand anderem gefällt, erschaffst du bereits einen Wert.

| Part of me wonders if all of the pulled punches we've seen in Final Quest are in fact leading up to a major final loss like Leetah's death. If all of the wheel-spinning has been because Wendy knows it's coming but can't quite bear to do it.
I'm in sort of an ambivalent position where I don't want Leetah to die, yet also feel like unless there's a loss on that scale, it's going to be even more narratively unsatisfying.

Likewise. Leetah dying as a result of the explosion would come across as being done purely for unearned angst. Think Ruffel's death, only even more clunky. "Oh no, how ironic that the lady that we emphatically took freedom of choice from so she might be safe should die as a result of our inexplicably contrived victory conditions. That she was pregnant only deepens this very tragic tragedy. But don't be sad; shedding of life is no more than the dropping of a feather, right? Right. Let's get some lunch."

| how much "Leetah is dying"-drama do you thing they can pack in on 24 pages? And still have place for the "palace comes back for a visit" thing? Leetah is not going to die and all uncertainty and suspense is going to be solved on two pages. ___________________________________________________ It's a dolphin!

I don't recall wishing for most of this... But at least it looks like they're not going to fridge Leetah, thank goodness. And Kimo's body gets squished by Father Tree, just to add insult to mortal injury.

| Strongbow was looking like: "Of course, ANOTHER thing to go wrong..."
I'll be glad when this series is over. (Final Quest, not Elfquest. I still love Elfquest. This is just a part of Elfquest I don't care for.) ___________________________________________________

| Cutter is not only the kin seeker, he is also part high one. He will have another kid and will stay chief for the foreseeable future (he saw his grandchild grow up, how many Wolfrider chief managed to do that?). Cutter can have the big and the small truth without sacrificing much. The events in FiQu had no repercussions to him.
Elfquest was never about Rayek and Strongbow, the wishfulfilment doesn't extend to them ___________________________________________________ It's a dolphin!

| I had a really, really weird dream last night where all the Wolfriders shapechanged into humans as a last option to be able to still live on Abode... Weird shit. Two more days. Are we there yet? | |

| For some reason I'm not eager to read FQ #24 ... probably because I know it is the last one. And despite all mixed feelings and complaints I had in the progress - I don't really want to end it!
