| Looks like the official homepage is getting less traffic now. At the least, there seem to be fewer commenters. ___________________________________________________ “Stay drunk on writing so reality doesn’t destroy you.” - Ray Bradbury.

| They need to find some working entertainment.
Just applauding gets boring soon. Just dropping praise without interaction or at least reaction can be frustrating. That's at least how it would be for me. Interaction was the glue, the fuel, the fun ... what kept me busy with fanworks, discussion - and praise. This - and information, news updates ... ___________________________________________________ Indem du etwas tust, das dir oder jemand anderem gefällt, erschaffst du bereits einen Wert.

| I have to agree. I have stopped going over there nearly so often now that it's mostly just promotions for the books and comics. ___________________________________________________ I'm not old. I've just been young for a very long time...

| The new format has essentially become a second Facebook. Which is... quite redundant since they already have a Facebook page? I'm not FB-wise at all but maybe they should find a way to "embed" posts from there on the news page - rather than have duplicates of the same contents on which few people post. *shrugs* Or have a "news" page that links directly to FB and have the opening page merged with the "about" section, like it used to be in really old incarnations of EQ.com... ___________________________________________________ Thanks to my dearest friend Embala for the signature! | I think this is probably basically what they wanted. A page to promote their story on- where a few people could give them some pats on the back or cheer them along.
I actually agree that it's not too healthy for a creator to be participating in forum discussions about his/her work. First of all, the creator is bound to get his/her feelings hurt if any criticisms come up. And secondly, the discussions probably won't be honest. Or at least, people will, most likely, be inclined to edit their opinions to avoid offending anyone.
I totally agree with Christina- the new intro page to their website is pretty redundant, given their facebook page. But who cares.

| I know I've never said much to this topic. I pretty much felt like I didn't really have a right to say anything since I left the Scrolls well before this happened...for personal reasons. I wasn't a very nice person anymore. So I didn't feel like I deserved to be there anymore. It was a personal choice, and I will admit, it was a very stupid one. But I am heartbroken, none the less. I had every intention of coming back. I made it a personal goal in order to encourage myself to get better. To be the person I used to be again when I first joined there. Then it was changed. So I continued to stay away Then it was closed. Then so many familiar and new faces appeared here. Then I realized something.... It wasn't the "place" that I needed in order to get better. It was the friends. Maybe that's the silver lining. At least, that's how I try to look at it. I've found myself feeling the same happiness these past few weeks that I felt years ago when I was in the old Scrolls forum. Yes, there was always fun and the enjoyment with those we've had here in the past 2 years, but we all know the advantages there are when a special group of people form together (like we all did) that will always be there to support you, to care about you, to encourage you, to lend a hand or knowledgeable advice, to simply listen to you when you feel no one in your life is listening, to share the good and the bad times, to bring laughter, or shed tears. To simply "share" our lives with each other. That's something pretty special. Especially when such a group is brought together by something as special as Elfquest So, as sad and heartbreaking as it feels to see the doors closed on our old home, I find comfort in the fact that we've come together again the way we have now. We've beaten the odds. Most groups would have remained scattered. That actually happened when the very first "upgrade" happened to the Scroll of Colors forum. But here we are. Just as the elves themselves became scattered and are now reuniting, so are we ^_^ I don't know about anyone else, but it's helped me heal a whole lot in a way I didn't expect. I hope that doesn't sound in any way selfish of me, because I know so many are still upset about what happened. But I for one am grateful to have everyone together again. I just wanted to express that ___________________________________________________ Compliments go to Embala for bringing a British cat and an American dog together via Photoshop! chibi cutter compliments of katcombs! | I second, third and fourth what Kindred* said! Even my husband has commented on it. He said I was so down the week the Forum was shut and then when I found the Fathertree, I was happy and bright again. And I've said before and I'll say it again that I was on the verge of giving up the forum completely because it just wasn't the experience I was longing for - then the forum was closed and I found you all here and it's what I was missing! *edit

| Here are your boobs, Kindred: . I second and third and fourth what Kindred said! (And I will double back to figure out whatever PC said!) I told Manga this in an email. I said, completely as a joke, that Richard Pini shut down the forum as a huge personal favor to me. Because I had decided to quit it- and he just didn't want me to be lonely! So he sent all you guys here to keep me and Kindred and WiseShaman and all the rest of us company! So that was my joke. And Manga very graciously said she was sure that was what happened... with a wink. But the truth is- what I liked about the forum wasn't talking about Elfquest. It was talking about Elfquest with you guys. And talking about life with you guys. It was seeing everyone grow and change and disappear and reappear over the years- and what do you know? We are still the same crew! I've been chatting with most of you guys for over ten years now. That's a long time. And no, we don't all live in the same town or city, or even the same country- but we are still, in our own way, all friends. And that's worth a lot. So yeah, I was going to miss y'all. But then, to my great surprise,I jumped ship-- and through some bizarre twist of fate, y'all landed right here with me! And I'm sorry about the forum, but I'm glad too to see us all back together again. | |

| As I said before the latest change to the old Scroll before the shut down, left me feeling blah. It was hard to read things. People I used to see on a regular basis were starting to disappear. In short it was no fun. The joy of EQ and the people that made EQ what is (the fans), is what got me started on the Scroll to begin with. I had joined this site soon after it was created and was back a forth for a bit, but became more active just before the old Scroll closed for good. To tell you the truth Richard probably did a big favor for many of us. Now we are back together as a family should be and gaining more family members as we go. There's no place like home. ___________________________________________________ Reese's, Kashmir's, and Tequila's mommy. | |

See, Kindredsoul. That was my thought some days ago ... You've finally returned to the Scroll how you've wished for. Yet in an unexpected way ... the Scroll went back to you.I've smiled .... let go another thread of regret and sadness. You dream came true against all odds. Not only this - YOU have made it possible. *hugs* ___________________________________________________ Indem du etwas tust, das dir oder jemand anderem gefällt, erschaffst du bereits einen Wert.

| @Elwing This tribe gathering was a centerfold in one of the comic issues. I can look up the original English issue, the one we got in Europe (at least the German version) and I can provide a bigger scan it you like, Elwing. It was part of an EQ calender too. The one sold by Wolfrider Shop (or was it the other one) with all(?) the centerfolds as monthly headers. No idea whether it is still available somehow. ___________________________________________________ Indem du etwas tust, das dir oder jemand anderem gefällt, erschaffst du bereits einen Wert. | |

| I try.. I just TRY to keep silent, but Kin's words were just too much. Yes: it IS sharing we have here. We all love Elfquest, we try and understand, we feel MUCH for those fictional characters, and... ...we present our tries, our works, our contributions, our analysis, our feelings to the community's appreciation, here, be it positive, negative or indifferent, but always with tolerance and some sense of humour, just like what we have done for years on the old Scroll. We shouldn't have expected support and such true sharing from Wendy or Richard, in the Scrolls. Those forums just did NOT matter that much to them, actually. And what changes they decided and the WAY those changes were inflicted to us all along showed.. NO respect. THEIR problem. Not mine. Not ours. THAT is the lesson I learned. We STILL have the Father Tree Holt. We can STILL make it our true home. ✧ As for Kin's boobs, I swear I've never touched them... ✧ ___________________________________________________ | |

| Hello everyone, I too was unpleasantly surprised to find the Scroll of Colors closed. I have never really been an active member, although after months of lurking I did sign up a couple of weeks ago to post once or twice (don't even remember the username I took). Though I always found it interesting to read your thoughts on the newest volumes or your speculations about the next, somehow the forum just never really invited me to participate. Due to personal circumstances I didn't visit during the last months of its existence and so I totally missed the discussion that *might* have had its part in the closure. I don't want to bore you with my opinion about the discussed matter (I am Dutch, so you might guess...), but I do want to speak out my support for the people who 'caused' the trouble. It is clear that the Pinis haven't showed their best sides these last weeks and lacked a *bit* of respect here and there. Richards way of dealing with Lunas (and some others) point of view was pathetically childish. You know, a lot of artist are/were known for being horrible persons (I don't say THEY are, but they clearly are not perfect). Genius often has it's dark side, but it's their creations that matter. I am an Elfquest Fan, not a Pini fan. Though initially disappointed, I am now convinced (as most of you seem to be) that this change was for the best. This forum has a much more welcome feeling and, yes, it is better to freely discuss matters without the creators interfering. That is exactly why I decided to sign up here right away. I can't promise I will be a very active member, but I will probably read every post about FQ to see your opinions and views on matters. Thanks to the people who host this forum for making us feel so welcome here. | |

| O... Elwing,. About that picture. It was a centrefold in one of the dutch comics as well (don't know if centrefold is the right word, it was in the back actually). I don't remember exactly which one though. Must been around the year 2000, as I clearly recall having it on the wall in the house I used to live in then. I also remember it was in an issue I thought was horribly drawn, could have been in one of the hidden years issues about the High Ones. @Christina Hehehe, nah, hasn't got much to do with the WaveDancers, it's just my name (Merel) + f ;-) @Leanan Tnx | |
