I took him to the ER on the 25th with chest pains. They admitted him to the cardiac ward. On the 27th they rushed him to cardiac ICU and have kept him there ever since. Last week they said he had kidney damage. This week they are trying to clear his lungs.
They put him on oxygen plus a BPAP mask. The oxygen is the nose tube you see people wear in public when they have bottled oxygen. The BPAP is the mask you see on TV when the EMTs are pushing patients on a stretcher.
On Monday a doctor told me that if his breathing got worse, they would put him on a breathing machine with a tube down his throat. If they did, I might have to make a decision on his advance directive.
I rallied my prayer warriors. He has improved and is now using only the oxygen. They can't give him food or water because he aspirates anything that goes into his mouth.
He wakes up briefly, during which time he is confused and hallucinating. But he knows who I am now. For a short time tonight I was able to get him to understand what is happening to him. ___________________________________________________ | |

| confusion and halluzination is normal for patients in ICU, my mother heard the angels sing, when she was there. It was spooky! I wish you strength too , all good wishes for your husband. | |

In our last visit he began to understand that he was having hallucinations.
He is also doing a better job of answering questions about common knowledge. A speech therapist actually has to determine when he can control his mouth enough to swallow.
A friend of ours has been praying for him for weeks. He had a vision in which she appeared to him as an angel. ___________________________________________________ | |

| My husband was transferred to a regular hospital room on the twelfth, after sixteen days in the cardiac ICU. He remembers nothing about going to the ER on October 25, nor does he remember anything before the transfer.
When I first saw him in his new room, I was shocked to find him sitting up and speaking clearly.
I sat down, hugged and kissed him, thanked God over and over, and cried harder than I have in many years.
He looks as though he lost thirty pounds or more. He's still on oxygen and stands with a walker. He won't be home for a couple more weeks, and could end up with home health assistance a few hours a week.
