As many complaints as I have about FQ, the scene with Leetah wasn't  one which bothered me, regardless of how mindless it seemed. I think it just showed that he was not touched by all the drama, which is nice. I think my main problem is - he's an oxymoron. But not in a good way.

On one side, they seem to show him completely in touch with everything - the birds, nature, everything - he whistles and everything seems to respond, be soothed, and be calm.

Then the other side - he's utterly and completely detached from the Elves. He's made no effort to get to know them. Explain himself or anything.

So I don't think his "Blue Steel" look is bad art - I think it's Wendy showing he's utterly "detached" from everything. His expression never changes, because nothing is truly impacting him.

But, that complete oxymoron of being utterly in touch with the entire world, but not connecting with his own kind (and I don't mean in that cool, "I hate you guys!" - Rayek or Winnowill kind of way - I mean in a - "I have no character development, I'm just a walking card board" kind of way).

It kills me that Rain - in the Blood of Ten Chiefs origin story of Cutter (Issue #4 of the B&W magazine of OG) has more personality in the short time he's alive than Dre-Pain has had since he first appeared several issues ago.

You know, it's funny - when I first read ElfQuest (this is when the B&W issues of the OQ were coming out), I began with issue #2. So when I read issue #4, and it showed Two-Spear when they were doing the Blood of Ten Chief story, that would lead to Bearclaw's story - it was Two-Spear who stuck out the most to me. I was immediately drawn to how he looked, the dual spears, the whole bit. He was the one I wanted to know more about.

And then, it happens, and they make him pretty much a little bit crazy and blood thirsty. Which, I was okay with - but as the stories progressed and we learned more and more about him - he seemed to get crazier and crazier.

Which makes your poem, much more impact, that someone had to take a stand.

He did ... and Skywise answered more or less: I'd love to do so - if Ember wishes for it.

It must be somewhere iin HY #10 to #15 ... more likely in the latter ones. It happened shortly befor or during the tribe split.

It's not "the ultimative reader's guide" but good enough for a smooth read. I'll give you some information about the different series so you can decide by yourself.

Main storyline - Shards (#1 til #15) and Hidden Years (from #16 til the end) - run parallel and influence each other.
Shards #10 / HY #24 and Shards #12 / HY #25 are directly connected - read the Shards issue before you look in the corresponding HY issue - spoiler warning!

About same time as Shards and Ember's Hidden Years storyline

As you will notice some of the stories can be found in several topics. The Elfquest Vol. 2 issues have several ongoing stories in each issue - and then and now a single one. Many of these stories are gathered in collections:

Dreamtime, Wild Hunt, Wavedancers, Rogue's Curse, Wolfrider! to mention just a few.

You can stick with the gatherings to follow my suggestions ... Elfquest Vol. 2 is a read for completation when everything else is done in my opinion.

Seriously? You really expect me to want to work via you now? ("You" is the temp agency in this case, several employees contact...)
First, person#1 called me with a job offer. It sounded interesting, and I told you so. So you said you would present me as candidate to the client first thing, because the searching was a bit of a 'rush'.
Then, a few days later, I get a standard rejection letter. From person#2. Ok, fine, I guess you don't want me after all.

But this is only when the fun starts! A week or so after, person#3 calls if I'm interested in the same job. When I tell you that I've already been rejected, you barely blink an eye. Request I send my CV again, because you cannot find it in the system and I've sent both translations to person#1 in the first place.
Then... Nothing.
Another week later, during my holiday, person #4 calls if I'm interested in the job. Acts surprised when I tell him he's the third caller about it. No apologies here either, just a short 'oh there must be some miscommunication, she works in another office'. I explain once more how my qualifications are, and am promised a callback the same day. I do not hear from you.
And today (8days later) I get a call from person#5, referencing to the convo with person #4. No apologies, only asking if I can come in for an interview. Tomorrow. Well you're damn lucky that I have another week of holiday at home this week, otherwise I would not be able to. But heck, I've got a very decent job at the moment, there's no harm in going to see what happens. But no, I will not be able to give you names for reference checks, because I cannot get those approvals within 18hrs, on my holiday to boot. And I will not have my original diplomas for you to scan, only scans of them.
I should get an email with details 'just after the call', with stuff like the address I'm supposed to be at.

We'll see... But this is all very unprofessional it seems to me! (35mins later, no email so far)

*edited to add* almost 3hrs later, email arrived. Person #5 turns out to be person #3. No mention of her talking to me previously either... super weird.
Only reason I'm going to the interview is because the job genuinely seems interesting!

I'd disagree. Voll didn't have enough going for him. Bearclaw had a soul mate, a tribe, a son, and much more to lose. Voll just lost his own life. Not enough impact when compared to Game of Thrones.

The middle two ... turned out too monochrone for my taste. All browns with pale yellow or plain white. It's hard for me to imageine Foxfur without at least a hint of warm berry purple or firey foxy red.
Tho ... I've the suspicion that the dots are supposed to be berry colored! Kodos for this laborious pretty berry pattern! The white blose has a nice fit with the puffy sleeves and wide collar. Still missing some color for her ... maybe a barrette that imitates her original necklace? Or a colorful ribbon around the neck? Foxfur wears a broad characteristic belt ... I can totally see it going with the brown skirt. In dark violet going with the berry blouse and wildberry colored with the white one.
Or - make her a riding outtfit and use the belt?

A berry pink for the summer dance ^^ ... it looks light and swingy. This time the brown dots (is it brown?) and borders make it lively and underline her beautiful brown locks. Last not least the light yellow-purple summer dress ... this stips'n dots pattern is so attractive! With yellow chest insert (? vocabulary), the sash around the waist and the ruffled borders she turned out so young and fresh. and this hat is the perfect completation! *claps*


I'm so looking forward to see Clearbrook again ... or whatever you will come up with next, Rainflower! Keep the awesome work!

Hi everyone! I hope it's ok to post this here, but I'd hate for all this hard work and info to be lost with the shutdown of the old Scroll. I'll add to it as I can and I hope anyone who'd like to will do so, too.

The main idea is pretty simple: a one-to-three line breakdown of every named character in the official Elfquest mythos. Including comics, books, art, articles, rpgs, boardgames, official website postings. With a few simple categories:

* Name -- and Soulname if known in parentheses. If character has had more than one name, current name first.

* Gender -- if known

* Mortality status -- as of EQ: the Final Quest; it seems only pureblood elves, the named 'gods', Preservers, and maybe Shimmer the Android are considered to be Immortal.

* Duties & Titles -- trying to limit to 2-3.

* Family/Romantic relations -- trying to limit it to Father / Mother / Child / Husband / Wife / Lifemate / steady Lovemate of _________.

* First Appearance -- either mentioned or seen, including date of publication

Asterisks can denote information not considered current EQ canon.

Example:

Flashback #1 (Turning Tide) - first elves to be killed by humans (if we want to be technical and *if* it's Haze who pushes Coral's boat in flashback #3, then Coral was the very first human victim, and Haze and Farbright probably died right after), as well as deaths that took part only "last storm season" before Turning Tide. We later learn that Skimmer died before Moonmirror's parents ("the storms had come and gone only twice since Skimmer and Surge vanished").

Flashback #2 (Metamorphosis) - set after Coral's death, when Surge wanted to fight the humans back.

Flashback #3 (EQ2#1) - Coral's funeral, set about 500 years before Turning Tide.

FLashback #3b (EQ2#1) - (cont.) from Coral's funeral to the departure of Zephyr's band (when?).

Flashback #4 (EQ2#2) - Skimmer healing a random elf. Took place before her death in the storm season before WD#1.

Flashback #5 (EQ2#5) - Wavecatcher recounts that he met Yun "eight-and-four floodings ago". What's a flooding and how often does it occurr?

Flashback #6 (EQ2#21) - Zephyr's band takes off from Crest Point (some undetermined time after Coral's death).

Flashback #6b (EQ2#21) - (cont. of the above) Zephyr's band settles at Cavernsong after much time at sea. Later on, Wavelet is born.

Flashback #6c (EQ2#21) - (cont. of the above) Zephyr's band is slaughtered, when Wavelet's still a tiny infant (Marish found her a newborn babe in the woods). If we can figure out Wavelet's age then we'd know indicatively for how long Wavecatcher has been wandering before he met Yun. Trickier to say how much time it took for Zephyr's band to reach Cavernsong so we can figure out how much spent they spent journeying and how much in their new home.

Flashback #7 (EQ2#31) - WaveDancers have already settled at Crest Point, and there are three healers in the tribe, when young Reef goes off to explore.

Flashback #7b (EQ2#31) - (cont. of above) set short after Tyldak dropped Winnowill in the island at the end of SABM. Reef runs into her.

Flashback #7c (EQ2#31) - (cont. of above) Reef is "broken" by Winnowill.

Flashback #8 (EQ2#31) - First and only mention of Stormsong and how he died. No hint as to where his death should be placed in the timeline, tho.

Flashback #14 (missing chapters) - Darshek sees the ghostly Pirn and Shadowcrest. If he knows what both of his mother's lifemates looked like, he must be the oldest of the siblings (because Pirn died when he was just a baby. Longfin says that "Darshek barely knew his father Pirn", and Salt later comments "Pirn will be happy to see the grown son he last saw as a newborn pip". So Pirn, at the very least, was already long deceased at the time of Coral's funeral in flashback #1).

I've added some more pictures to the first nest of the season at page #4. And I will fill one or two of the previous ones before bedtime.
